View Full Version : WSOP for gaming stations

I was walking thru Best Buy today and spotted the WSOP for Playstation, GameCube, etc. Has anyone had a chance to play this? I thought it might be fun to get my feet wet with some games I have never played before like PLO.

I have played the PS2 WSOP game , can't really say I reccomend it. The AI is pretty awful until you make it deep into the tournaments. Of course it has to be , since they have the blinds going up every 9 hands and if you want to survive you need to be able to double through some overplayed garbage.

PLO and O8B are almost unplayable , mainly because it takes the AI forever to make decisions.

You have to remember that this kind of game is aimed at the people who have no real idea of how to play , so you won't find much depth to it. You might have fun playing it for a while (I kind of did when I rented it), but it realy isn't much of a learning tool.

I did figure the AI would be weak in places but was thinking about getting it just to learn some new games and maybe introduce the girlfriend to poker. I play Hold'em and Omaha8. I wonder if the PC version would be 'faster' if you have a fast PC?

I can't tell from the box, but how many games and variations are there?

Also, is the software 'slow' only relative to online games...or in regard to casino games? If it's just slow in regard to the former, I would not have a problem with it.

I'd wait for Stacked. I haven't seen a decent review for this one yet, and I didn't think much of it in the 30 or 40 minutes I played it.

Stacked? I haven't heard of this one. Do you know who is putting it out or anything else about it?
