2-4 NL, Me and BB have around $500. I limp on Button with Q-8 spades, SB calls, BB makes it 20, I call, SB calls. Flop comes A-8-6 with 2 spades. SB checks, BB bets 50, I push all-in, he calls with AK and holds up.
Is that too reckless(other than the Q8 call), turns out I was 50/50(I figured AK at the worst) and he had to make a pretty tough call.

60 dollars in pot he makes it 50 which is almost pot size, and you come over the top for somewhere int the neighborhood of 430 more into a pot of 160 dollars.....looks way too fishy for me, would you do that with a set or would you sucker him in, looks like ur stealin, and im callin you every time

with those stack sizes i think leading out and shoving to a raise might be better.

good luck leading out from button. Also, with your stack size he's not folding pair of aces no matter what you do, so your only hope is he had KK or something and folds. Given that, it doesn't really matter since you have a big draw and don't really care if he calls you or not. One option is to pot reraise if he moves in obv call, if he calls, take free card and fold river unimproved.

I don't think I like putting a nice junk of my stack in on the flop and then still left hanging, you do?

I like it. Plus, if you're playing with regulars, you'll get a lot more calls from weak tighties.

Against a passive opponent, this is a good line. If he has a hand that he is willing to fold, he will prob fold to an all-in or pot raise. But if he just calls the pot raise and checks the turn, you lose less money if you miss your outs.

Yeah, when I get one of those big draws in a decent sized pot with 13-15 outs, I don't really want a decision on 4th st if I miss. I'll definitely gamble to win monster pots so I don't mind taking 60-40 the worst of it if there's already money out there, I think against AK I could take the $110 in the pot a third of the time, win $520 a third, or lose $500 a third, unfortunately it was the latter!
