i've always poured it with the glass at an angle like any other beer, but a few bartenders have told me the proper way is to hold can and beer directly vertical.

You want to get about a three finger head on it. Pour slanting the glass for about till about 1/2 full then stand the glass straight up and pour slowly down the middle, increasing the distance from the can/bottle and glass gradually.
This is true for most or all beers.
Stadium pouring is for non-beer drinkers.

this is how i poor good beer but when i get stuck drinking coors light and i tilt the glass because i do not want any head.

Maybe so but alot of people do it with any beer.
I still think on a bad beer a regular pour with head is better because the head gives the beer more flavor even if it is a shitty beer.
But then again if I have to choose between a Macro crap beer or nothing, I choose nothing.
