I've held off for yrs - never liked console games - I'm a computer strategy junkie -

but lately my friends have been going off about Halo, Forza racing, and so forth, and I played it the other day and got hooked -

so tonight after he got off work - I made a run down to the 24 hr. Walmart (I know, they suck) - and bought the X-box, Halo, Mech-assault, and a 1 yr. sub. to Xbox Live -

this oughta be interesting - in the racing game I played yesterday it felt so unfamiliar I couldn't win with a top of the line car against an S4 - LOL

You know the new XBOX comes out in a couple months?

they said it didn't matter - if they're not upgrading for a couple yrs, I wasn't going to - mostly it's to play with friends...

besides, that's a $500 sob when that comes out - I got all my stuff for a little over 250

Yeah definitely try to get your XBox modded. Free games is a great perk.

when you say "halo" you mean "halo 2," right?

as an XBox owner you now have a duty to play Chronicles of Riddick.

dont mod your xbox if you want to continue using live...

You can turn the chip off so it can't be detected.

But yeah, don't connect to Live with your chip on.

now add a $50 modchip and a $50 100+ GB harddrive to really get some value.

Five hundred bucks? Holy crap that's nuts.

Well, I guess if you're really into games...but still, ouch. Ouch indeed.

I'll be queueing with my $500 at the ready as soon as XBOX 360 hits the stores.

Welcome to 2001. Seriously though, Halo 2 is the best game I've played on Xbox, check that one out.

Same here...I picked one up like 2.5 yrs ago, but between p*ker and the better computer games (HL2), I've probably used it less than 10 times.

On the plus side, the bundle I bought came with the DVD remote, and when my DVD/VHS combo remote disappeared and was not easily replaced, the X-Box is now my DVD player.

that's a price quote for the Xbox 360 when it first comes out (I heard 400 for the console as opposed to the ol' 150 I paid) -

400 for the console is correct. There is a 4300 version but i would reccomend the $400 version.
