Really bad start to the NFL season

So, I'm still a total noob in the sportsbook game, but have decided to devote a lot of time to reading this forum, watching the lines, doing background reading elsewhere, and starting with a micro bankroll (a few hundred bucks) and very small wagers, to see how I might do and if I can make this profitable.

Unfortunately, despite putting in some effort, I'm 4-16 on a variety of moneyline, spread, and o/u wagers through the first 2 weeks. My question is: how discouraged should I be about this bad start? Assuming a lot of these are close to 50-50 props, should I just accept this as bad starting negative variance and work harder at it, or reevaluate my ability here?

I realize it's early in the season, but still, these horrible results are incredibly discouraging...

You always have the ability to improve your handicapping skills but you need to make sure you're learning the right information and not getting garbage from bad sources.

I would say part of your problem is you're making too many bets. If you're just learning, why have so much action? Seems like you're playing into the books hands. I would focus in on one or two games you really like and add more as you get more experience.
