View Full Version : Semi large pocket pairs with overcards on board
What's a good generic way to handle this situation. I have JJ in middle position. I raise, i have one lone caller. flop comes 4Q9. How do I handle this... do I take off betting, and if it's called how do i continue from there. Do i check the turn and call it down>

Bet the flop.
Bet again on the turn.
Check/call the river.
If your flop bet is raised, call. If raised on the turn, fold.
hit a J on the turn, it makes the rest of the hand much easier to play

depends on opponent? Its a hand you want to show down, most of the times.

Doesn't this option depend on how well you've been tipping the dealer? He left that part out. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
But seriously, I agree with Aceshigh.
thanks for all the help guys

I dont like betting the flop AND the turn, I feel like youre just throwing money into a better hand. I pot flop and if called give it up. Is this weak? Anyone else agree w/ me?

The problem is you don't know if you have the best hand or not...you can't assume you are beat by the flop call. So you bet the turn hoping/assuming you have the best hand.

I vote "semi-large" as the best descriptor ever for JJ
