Dell 2001fp problem

I had been playing on my brand new fp for about 3 days, but today when I turned it on I got a "white screen." It's kind of like trying to watch a scrambled HBO show. I can make some things out and see my desktop icons (sort of), but it's worthless to use. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to fix it, if it can be fixed or what the problem is? Of course Dell support is closed now so I can't get any help today from them.

Try display properties, settings, advanced and you should be able to fiddle with it. If that doesn't help it may well be your monitor or video card. Also try booting in safe mode and see if that helps...press F8 while the system is booting, you may need to press it a few times.

Thanks a lot. I booted in safe mode and screwed w/ some things and suddenly it works. I really didn't do anything, but all of the sudden it's OK. Very weird...makes no sense!
