no because one is swearing and the other isnt. just because a word isn't nice, doesn't make it a swear word. people don't like to be call "morans" or "buttheads" but that doesn't make them swear words.

I was actually attempting to back up the "it's not a swear" side. When the word irreverent was paired up with vulgar, I took it to have a stronger than traditional meaning in this context.
