Hero ???

I have a bit of a history of overplaying AK and this situation may be one of them. I think this one is a fold.

1. The 3x re-raise indicates he must have a made hand, especially if he notices that I raised more than 3x BB when UTG. I strongly suspect JJ+.

2. I like to be the agressor with AK. If I call and miss the flop I don't have any sort of advantage being totally OOP.

3. It's a way early game, and I have no reads that tell me this guy is a total idiot raising 10x BB with AQ. I think I'd rather save the 100 chips.

I fold this. I don't want to get involved for this many chips this early. He could have Jacks or something but considering you are only hitting a king or queen on the flop 30 something percent of the time I think this is a fold. If you want to gamble and see it I don't think it's terrible but I would prefer a fold.

I think folding is fine, but why do people say this all the time?

What is a made hand? This term is rediculous a hand will win a certain percentage of the time regardless if it is "made" or not.

I look a pokerprophecy and push if he's <24%ITM fold otherwise.

i dont waste time looking at poker prophecy...i fold to anyone here if he has 86 all the power to him.

I always assume that everyone is an idiot unless I have notes that say otherwise.

I don't like folding here. I either call and see a flop or push.

Of course--- that might be why I don't do well in 800-chip SNGs anymore. You can afford to burn a few more chips and make a mistake in a 1000 chip game. But you have 1160 chips already, so--- I would call.

I'm pushing every time. If I lose, I fire up another. If I win, I can pretty much finish 1st or 2nd. Most times on the 22's I expect to either see jacks, queens or aq.

Call, see a flop. Unless you have some history with villian that indicates a premium pair, I think you may be giving him too much credit. In my mind I have three cards I'm going to try to win the pot with, A K or Q. If any of those hit I'm betting 1/2 to 2/3 pot. He may be on a pair of 8's or 9's and hate the over card. If he raises, then you have to let it go.

If I had T800 in this spot I push, but since u've got T1160 I think a call is reasonable. If an ace or king falls hopefully u will get all in your chips in the pot. If not you can release your hand with a healthy stack

I think you're getting proper odds to take a flop. I'm as conservative about committing a lot of chips early on as the next guy, but you're calling 100 into a pot that already contains 225. You have AK. I'm at school and can't make calculations now, but I imagine it's worth at least taking a flop with.

IMO you have too many chips to comfortably say "just push", as you still have 1100 behind and it's level 1. I call and hope to get a good chunk of his stack when I hit.

I get what you mean, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think I'm beaten, likely with a pocket pair.

The way that he played this is EXACTLY the way I play AA and KK, especially up against an UTG raise.

thanks for the replies all.

Call, see a flop. If you hit, push. If you miss, check/fold. It's still so early and you have the chips to call the raise.

I think everyone knows my stance on this situation. Call if you are confident of your post-flop skills, otherwise push.

Luckily, the fact that you have AK cuts down on his chances of having either of these hands. You have enough chips and are getting a good enough price so that I think calling and taking a flop is a good play. You can get away from the hand if the flop isn't favorible for you, but you stand to gain some chips if it is.
