View Full Version : Was the flop raise correct?

09-17-2005, 03:22 PM
I'm wondering if the flop raise was correct (no analysis necessary for the turn raise...). On the flop, should I have:
1. Raised all in?
2. Just called?
3. Raised some other amount?

Push the flop.. a 2k raise isn't enough compared to the pot size, and leaves you with an awkward amount of chips anyyway.

What amount would have been appropriate?

If your gonna reraise dont mini raise pf. then the pot will be biggger and you can reraise allin on flop

well the raise you used gave him 3:1 very tempting odds, and correct odds for himt o call w/ just 2 overs. If your stacks were deeper i would raise to 6k.. then he's not getting odds to draw to his overcards, so you gain a bit of info.

but w/ your stack sizes, i think most raises are committing you to the pot, so a push on the flop is probably best.

wow, just read Tom's response and it made me look at the preflop action...

Yea that's no good, if you're going to reraise, it's gotta be more than that. Either flat call or raise to like 2000/2500.

What is this with all the miniraises?

Call or put in a real reraise preflop.

Put in a larger raise on the flop. I wouldn't go allin, but maybe raise to 5000.

You might fold on the turn.

No, i think you needed to raise more i believe.

Pre-flop- Raise more than that. Make a real raise, to 2000 at the very least.
Flop- Raise more again. If your going to raise, dont give him such great odds to call you down. I make it atleast 5000.

I dont think you can raise to just 5k.. that would leave you w/ 3k left.. you'll be commited for the rest if he pushes

Well if you're going to get all your money in, why not get it in now? Doesn't help you at all to keep 3k for the turn.

So get the maximum FE from your stack. Get in, get out, the pot is big enough already.

I think the 2k preflop and push the flop is the best, and pretty standard, line here.
