Why is it socially unacceptable for women to walk around topless at the beach, when it is ok to do so for men? I know it's because of social traditions, but is there some logical reason why this is so?

Does anyone think that if we saw boobs all day from everyone that they would become less special and boobs wouldn't really be boobs anymore?

Kinda like if all girls were hot, there would be no more hot girls.

I don't understand the issue you bring up. Perhaps if you showed us pictures, your meaning would be clearer.

Ontario (Canada) passed a bill a few years ago granting women equal rights to go topless anywhere that men could. Sadly, women did not uphold their part of the agreement. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't know why but when I first move to this country, I went to the beach and I was not wearing a top. The lifeguard came to me and told me that it was against the law. I was very surprised to hear that and I had to go buy a top since I did not even own one. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

It's not against the law in many parts of Europe, and in many tribes in Africa and societies in the Pacific, it's completely normal and unremarkable for women to be topless.

It's the puritanical, nature of American society that makes as much as possible sexual, and as much that as possible that is sexual shameful or illegal.

[/ QUOTE ]

They are for many men. It's just when you have a religion and a society that sexualize absolutely everything, and we certainly do, then absolutely everything is about sex.

The focus on breasts is fairly overwhelming in our culture, but it's nowhere near there in others. In others, the breasts are for the kids and the ass, hips and legs are where it's at for men.

Once you're in a society, it becomes almost impossible to see it from the outside, so most Americans have as hard a time not overreacting to breasts as Talibans have not riflebutting women in the back when a breeze shows a little bit of foot and ankle.
