the most rock n roll thing anyone can do is to have a lit cigarette stuck to the end of their guitar while they're playing.

Have you seen a guy smoke a cigarette from the lit part? That's much cooler.

I thought the most rock and roll thing anyone could do (and I have done it) was to start drinking during the gig and by the end be so plastered you forget how to play....

that was a classic rock and roll moment.

I thought it was taking a woman on her period and douching her out with a shaken bottle of champagne.

Led Zeppelin using fish as a sexual aide (http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/mudshark.asp) is pretty rock-and-roll.

So I saw this last night and started looking on my buddies concert pics site (http://www.musicpix.net/index.php?module=PostWrap&page=gallery). He is a photog for the Pacers and has recently branched out into concert photos. He's collection is getting fairly large...

Couldn't find one cigarette in a guitar. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

The kids today are out of control man.

The MOST rock & roll thing anyone can do is have their limo given a police escort to their sold out gig at Madison Square Garden.

Yeah, but Barbara Streisand can do that too, so i don't think it qualifies.

I have a pick of Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing guitar while holding a cigarette in his picking hand. THought that was pretty funny.

I've also seen Jimmy Page smoke at Knebworth, and Slash did this practically all the time.

Another rock-n-roll moment: John Bonham used to own a farm in England and so one day he wanted to go buy a Jaguar..so he goes to the dealership in his dirty overalls looking all hillbilly. Nodoby would serve him, and so he got pissed off of course b/c he was a rich rockstar. Anyway he gets the keys to one of the Jag's, and drives it through the storefront, rolls his window down and yells back "I'll send someone by to pay for all this sh*t!"

Or something like that... of course I was drunk when i heard this story and my friend who told me was also drunk. I wouldn't put it past Bonzo though.

I thought it was to suffocate on your own vomit after a night of binge drinking.

What happened to the good old pulverizing your instruments at the end of your gig ala The Who? If you can exceed the fact that's it's also the biggest rock cliché ever, it's pretty rock n roll.

My fav. rock and roll moment -

Bob Dylan in 1966 - he's playing these shows that start out acoustic and go electric - on the Bootleg Series, Vol 4, the audience starts booing and calling him Judas -

so he tells the band to "play [censored] loud" - It's one thing for rock and roll to be rebellious to your parents, but when you embrace it and alienate your fan base and end up with a night like that where you're saying "[censored] what they think, we're gonna rock" - that's rock and roll...

I've been to a concert where that was done. I think an even better moment was when the guitarist spit out his finished cigarette, ground it with his shoe and a roadie came onstage and lit another cigarette in his mouth...all without stopping his playing.

Very R&R.

I thought the epitome of R&R was being a drummer and spontaneously combusting.

Ever hear the John Hiatt tune, "Perfectly Good Guitar"?

He threw one down at the top of the stairs
Beautiful women were standing everywhere
They all got wet when he smashed that thing
But off in the dark he could hear somebody saying
"Oh it breaks my heart to see those stars
Smashing a perfectly good guitar
I don't know who they think they are
Smashing a perfectly good guitar."
