It sucks, but I don't mind it. It's either push or call PF. Once that ace hits on the flop, a lot of hands beat you.

I think you think it's worse than it is.

09-16-2005, 10:33 PM
He re-raised you with AK and hit one of his outs on the flop, Chrisman. I don't think it's bad play from you, the guy is going to call an all in preflop if you play back, I'd assume, so you could have lost more.

The flop's ok, since you beat basically nothing. But overall the hand's pretty bad.

What do you put him on preflop? AA-JJ, AK? AA-TT, AK? It's the first hand, so I don't think you can reasonably assume he's doing this with 55. Your equity against the first range is about 43% if you push preflop, and against the second it's around 37%.

I fold to the preflop reraise. If you think his range is significantly wider (say, AA-77, AK, AQs against which you're more like 55%) then go ahead and push preflop. He's not folding anything and you're going to have trouble getting chips out of the hands you beat postflop.

Duuuuhhhh, what was I thinking on this hand? Funny thing is I had just been caught bluffing literally the hand before by villian in this hand when I stab on the turn and someone calls, and fire gain (I'm the big stack at the table) on the river and get called and lose.

In the party 40k, villian's range, at this point in the tournament, is pretty much any two. Not literally, but idiots in this tournament could reraise like that with any two broadways. AT or better is definatly in his range. It's definatly *not* a fold PF given how people play in this tournament at this stage.

After the terrible first hand, I worked myself from 210 chips to 1590 at the break. Maybe I'm still in this.

Good grief. In this case, I like a preflop push so that you don't fold on an Axx flop when the other guy's holding KJ.

edit - pokerstove:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 60.8187 % [ 00.60 00.01 ] { JJ }

Not at all, you played that exactly correctly. you cant assume someone flopped a straight, and you had outs even if he did. tough break.
