my computer has gone to hell. i want to restore it to its initial glory, like what i first bought it. doing this will erase all my programs, including pokertracker. pt is the only program i want to bring. any hints on bringing my database with me? all comments appreciated. thanks.

If your computer has a virus, anything that comes out of that computer could be infected, i.e. if you want to back up your PT database, that could very well be infected. Try to disinfect your computer first using a good anti-virus tool then back up your PT database.

well just burn the PT database to a CD then scan the CD for viruses - it is most unlikely that the PT DB itself will be infected (though just abpout possible I guess)

I'm not afraid of the PT DB being infected, but I'm afraid of the boot sector of any removable media going into the device being infected. I don't know how CDs work but that was the case with floppies.

c:\Program Files\Poker Tracker V2\

Just copy all *.mbd files...
That's all the Access Databases...
And all *.lbd files...
Which is "Access Record-Locking Info"...
Whatever that is...
To be on the safe side.

I don't believe there is anything else of importance.

Then when you have a clean computer...
With PT loaded...
Just copy everything into the PT directory.

you will need to reinstall PT and get a new code from Pat - so there isn't much point in saving the PT.exe stuff - you just need the DB
