How is this pronounced in America?

Shajen

depends on the region mostly.

Either nish or nitch is mostly what I've heard.

How do you pronounce 'quiche'?

Keesh, unless your middle name is W, in which case it's quickie.

niche = nitch

Abbott: A niche in life is something you're good at. When you're successful, you've found your niche.
Costello: In that case, I know an airedale that's doing very well!
Abbott: No, no, no. A niche is a notch. Natch?
Costello: Natch.

Dictionary.com says that both "nitch" and "neesh" are fine, but keep in mind that I'll make fun of you if you say "neesh."

Just curious. I figured someone would make the Entourage reference but I didn't actually get it from that. One of the guys on the trailer for the video games concert said 'nitch'.

I also figured someone would come back with a counter example to attempt to look cool.

I was curious because everyone I know round here says 'neesh', but can't speak for the rest of the UK.
