Opponent here is 28/22 with 45WTSD and AF around 1.5 for all street after 7k hands (sixcardMonte for those who play a lot). Before you say I'm dumb for checking here (and I may very well be), here is my logic. When this player checks the turn, I really think he's either checkraising or checkfolding. What hands would he play like this that I'm ahead of AND he's calling with? KQ? Maybe... So I check so I can possibly hit some outs or induce a bluff/call from lower PP.

Preflop: Hero is MP with A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, BB calls.

<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: (5.75 BB) A/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: (5.75 BB) Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 7.75 BB

EDIT: I forgot to say that I think KK might play this way.

I think the problem with this is that because of the possible straight draw, TT, KK, and KQ all have 6 outs so you really can't afford to let him see a free river.

Also I would be surprised if this was a c/r attempt as it would be a pretty weird time for it with any hand and from what I remember I think this guy is usually straightforward.

initially i hated this, but now i'm not so sure. with a limping donk already in the pot, i doubt he is getting too frisky with his 3-bet. once you cap and he fires the flop, I gotta give him at least AQ or AKs. I think I like this play of yours.

Yea I just thought about the 6out gutters when I was posting this.

Does everyone like villain's river bet in that spot? It would be a pretty standard one for me I think.

No, I'm check calling or check-folding.

Given your description of the situation I like the way you played the hand. I don't like villain's value bet at all unless he thinks you both check the turn with a pair and fold it on the river. I can't think of any capping hand you could have that isn't now at least a pair.

Why capping AJs PF vs. a semi-decent player?

I think his river bet sucks, too. The only hands he can really hope to get us to fold are 99 and TT, which he has to discount since those won't always get capped preflop. With 88, I think his best play is to check-fold. With TT, I could see check-calling, but I still don't think much of it.
