I have plenty of respect for Moneymaker, but you'll always hear random criticisms about chris. Anyways it got me to thinking, what if his accomplishments were in opposite chronological order? Can you even imagine how much more respect this man would have?

So let's say instead of winning the 2003 ME first he:

Won Stars 25k guarantee rebuy
3rd in WCOOP Stud 8OB
2nd in WPT Bay 101
10th in 2004 WSOP omaha tournament
.....and then took down the WSOP ME.

I don't know, just a random thought, and a different point of view.

Besides the Stars 25K rebuy, would he even have participated in the other events (and many more high buyin events where he didn't cash) had he not won the WSOP ME, I think not.

That wasn't really the point, though...

This is interesting; he does not get enough credit for backing up his WS ME win, his first live tourney, with several solid performances. We just won't mention poker superstars...woops, jsut did.

Poker Superstars is just a series of turbo SNGs basically. Who cares about that..

I swear to god, this better be the last moneymaker topic here.

Look, he's an excellent player now. That's not the point.

The point is that he was a COMPLETE AMATEUR when he won the WSOP. He even said it himself.

if he was playing wpt events and the entire wcoop before he won the main event, he would obviously had been a successful tournament pro before entering the main event.

i, personally, would think of him the same way.

I think it would have been a really neat trick if he could have won the whole WSOP main-event BEFORE winning his way there in a $39 online-satellite.

If he could do this, but COULDN'T walk on water, I'd be very surprised.

Anyway... this is a good way to look at it all. I am all for getting Moneymaker the respect he deserves. In my book, if you win the WSOP Main Event, you are more than just lucky... at the very least, you are on your game like no other that week.
