What I'm looking for:

- Something ~$1000
- 512MB - 1GB RAM
- 40-60 GB HD
- CD Burner / DVD Combo Drive
- 15.4" (or bigger) screen (wide or "square")
- Decent Video Card (something around a 64MB X300)
- No software (office, windows) needed, but not an incredibly big deal as long as it's not horribly expensive

Processor isn't a big deal, weight/thickness dependent on other specs, color doesn't matter, and if you have personal experience something that feels comfortable 4tabling on

Please provide relevant stores, links, articles, models, etc.

Thanks.

Check out the internet forum, they talk about this all the time. I don't think you'll find a laptop with those specs for 1k, but I'm not up to date on computers so maybe it's possible.

When I bought my laptop half a year ago, they were recommending the dell 9300 inspiron in the zoo. I bought it, and I'm very happy with it as a poker machine. Dell has some good coupons online, search for a link in the zoo.

I'm hoping it's something around $1000 -- I customized a similar one on the dell webpage and it was in the 950 range, so if there's a deal, I think it's possible to keep it around there. However, I'm also looking at stuff up to the $1500 mark.

I'll check out internet as well. Thanks.

Dell had a great deal on exactly what you're looking for (Inspiron 6000) yesterday, but with a DVD burner and some software for $995. My mom was going to buy one for my sister, but by the time she got around to doing it, they were all sold out.

Google "dell coupon" and you'll be able to get some good deals. A few months ago, I got my Inspiron 9300, 17" widescreen WUXGA, CD/DVD Burner and whatever else, $1451 with a $750 coupon. It's excellent for 4-tabling - better than the 2001FP LCD monitors.

Check the above site, they post Dell deals daily. I bought this last month. Do not know about 4 tabling, but porn looks reall perty on it.

I bought an Inspiron 6000 about a month ago that is close to what you want. I did not get the 6000d that has the video but other than that it is idea. I payed 920 shipped after the 600 dollar dell coupon that is on fat wallet or techbargains or whatever.

If you buy one get it with the least amount of ram that it comes with 256MB probably, and buy 1GB from newegg or some other site. I paid 115 for 1GB of ram, it would have been well over 200 for the upgrade from Dell. Spend the money on a dvd burner upgrade or a better battery.

With the 6000 you will want to get either the WSXGA+ or WUXGA screens because they have better viewing angles.
