Very vague question,

do you mean if you were running your own NL tournament how many chips to start players out with?

That answer depends on 5 other factors

1. What do the blinds start out?

2. How often do the blinds go up?

3. How drastically do the blinds go up?

4. How many players will there be starting out?

5. How long do you want the tournament to last, minimum/maximum.

A bad stack/blind setup can turn a tournament into a joke.

If you want the tournament to be geared towards skill then start with deep stacks and low blinds that gradually increase.

Higher, faster increasing blinds add more luck to the game as there are fewer hands dealt and more aggressive play is forced.

Try 10,000 in starting chips with blinds starting at 100/200 and increasing every 30 or 45 minutes

100/200
200/400
300/600
500/1000
800/1600
1000/2000
2000/4000

and then just double them until the game is over.

Way to not flame this guy UA, a classy move very few 2p2ers are capable of pulling off.
