2-4 on Party.

I am on the button with A /forums/images/icons/spade.gif K /forums/images/icons/club.gif

3 limp to me and I raise. Blinds come, one call, then a limp reraise. Next (mega calling station) calls, and I cap. 6 see the flop for 4 bets.

Flop

A /forums/images/icons/club.gif 8 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 3 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif

Checked to the limp reraiser who bets. Call to me and I raise. One fold but 2 call back to the limp reraiser who 3bets. Caller calls, and I cap. All call. 5 players still in.

Turn:

A /forums/images/icons/club.gif 8 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 3 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 9 /forums/images/icons/diamond.gif

Checked to raiser who bets. Caller calls, I raise. Both call, raiser reraises. One folds, the rest all call.

River

A /forums/images/icons/club.gif 8 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 3 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 9 /forums/images/icons/diamond.gif 8 /forums/images/icons/club.gif

Checked to raiser who bets. All call.

Obviously I didn't win this hand. Did I give too much action?

5 people paying 4 bets on flop. What do you put them on? They cant all be on a flushdraw. Both 88, 33 and A8 is possible. Maybe AA on the raiser or at least AK? When you capped the flop, did you think you had the best hand?

If not all the others are very loose I would call turn (no flushcard for you) hoping to catch another A, or maybe K, on river.

"You guys are the future big swinging xxxx's of this firm."

Boiler Room. Great movie.

I think you gave way too much action on this hand. The guy who is raising all the way obviously likes his hand--he's telling you he has something better than TPTK.

I don't know if a fold would be good here though, especially online and if you don't have a read on this player.

I think the big mistakes are capping the flop and raising the turn. Or, when you cap the flop and he bets out again on the turn, then I've got to think it's time to hit the brakes and try to get to showdown as cheaply as possible.

I'm trying to figure out what he's holding--it's tough for him to have AA b/c there's only one combo for that. He may have flopped the set of eights that got better. He couldn't have flopped two pair. I'm eager to see the results.

I just reread the hand and what puzzles me is what he's putting you on. You're shouting at him, letting him know you have a monster. But he doesn't care!!

I'm going to say he has the aces. Aces full of eights. That's my final answer.

Good luck in the future.

I would have called on the flop and raised the turn if a blank hit.

Given the way you played, I think you must slow down once the limp-reraiser three-bets the flop. He is telling you that he has AA. If you had the K /forums/images/icons/spade.gif it would be okay to continue jamming, but with only tptk you should slow down.

Yes. One of the very likely candidates for a limp reraise is AA. I would have still likely raised the flop, but when he three bets there, at best, you should call him down, and you could possibly lay this down. The three bet on the turn is definately out of line.

Unless the player that keeps raising you is a total manic and probably has any two cards, you way overplayed your hand. Even if he is a manic, what does everyone else have to call these bets. A good player will only limp re-raise with AA, KK and maybe AKs, although I have seen LL players do it with lower pocket pairs (like 88 for example). After the flop re-reaise, you have to assume he has something that beats top-pair, top-kicker. You should go into check/call mode, maybe even fold, if the action gets too wild.

Well much to my non surprise, he turned over AA for the win. Other two players who reached showdown showed TT (calling station) and 99 (small blind).

I was torn on the turn between the following thoughts:

1) with so many callers, its really unlikely that guy has AA!?! I mean, that means there are a lot of other people putting in 4 bets preflop and on the flop with no ace (since he would have to have 2, I have 1, and 1 is on board); more likely he should have AK as well, I hope?

2) Given that its unlikely he has AA, I have to charge the spade and straight draws.

3) But he really seems to have AA!

I don't mind my flop cap, but I think I got HEFAP trapped in this one; had to play aggressive in this spot, and then had to call for pot size.

But in the end, I think a river fold would have been tough but acceptable. There should be just absolutely no way he can't have AA here.

I suggest that you support Norman Zadeh's porn site in your signature...perfect10.com (perfectten.com?)... The man holds a PhD in Math, went on to write "Winning Poker Systems" which is at least as good as any 2+2 book... Went on to get into legal trouble with the SEC regarding a losing hedge fund he was running... And followed up by running this porn site! The porn is all about "natural" girls--and that is fantastic! This man is a hero and you should support his porn!

Yeah, you gave way too much action. Limp re-raise screams AA. At least from most players. When he 3 bets the flop, he's got it, unless he's just a maniac. At that point I would have slowed down and just called it down. Or if I was really tough, lay it down, becaue you're drawing dead.
