Villian is like 28/10, but only over like 20 hands
Can't believe I limped this UTG, table was decent though 36VPIP.

if you're ballsy enough to limp that UTG, this flop raise is beautiful- you most likely have the best hand with a BDFD and a gutshot in a big pot.

Would you like the limp if the table was 45-50VPIP?

I'm asking because I limp this all the time at .50/1.

The VP$IP is only half the story. It's more important how passive the table is. I'd be more likely to limp on a 30% table with a pfr% of 0 than a 50% vp$ip table with a pfr% of 7. J9s does ok if you can see the flop for 1 bet, but if it costs you 3 - there goes your EV for that hand.

OK, so passive = limp. What about UTG+2 or MP? If you don't have a read on players left to act, where's the line?

very good point

I think limping J9s or low suited aces first in is probably marginal unless in the best of games. I am less likely to limp first in the later it gets, as it is less likely to be multiway. Limping in MP1 or MP2 is ok in a loose game if there is at least one or two limpers in and you expect a couple more + the blinds to come along. Am I way off?

Well, that's as good an explaination as I've heard.

I think the games I'm playing in at the moment are that good. I think the mistake I may be making is limping Axs and J9x when I come across the LAGgy tables. Although, it might be worth playing if I know everyone is going to coldcall the raise.

I'd limp that UTG at most .5/1 tables, but I don't think it's a good hand at the typical 1/2 table where you don't get a lot of others coming in.

I like the flop raise. 9s are vulnerable to a lot of overcards. I want to knock out as many others as possible. Having the straight draw and the overcard gives you outs if you are behind or fall behind.
