Saw "Iris" and "Monsters Ball" this weekend. Some great acting in both movies.
I liked Iris a lot. Basically a love story with one of the people descending into Alzheimer's. Judi Dench is getting most of the publicity, and she's one of my all-time favorites, but Jim Broadbent is fantastic and, IMHO, the star of the show.
Didn't like Monsters Ball very much. Many of my friends raved about it to me. Also basically a love story but I couldn't understand the main characters. Didn't seem to me they'd be attracted to each other. Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to watch Billy Bob Thornton for 2 hours, even though he was quite good.
