Can you offer me opinions on whether this is a decent bonus?

Is there a way to estimate how the number of total hands I play would "roughly" convert to amount of rake generated, assumming $1/2 limit holdem?

"All new players registering an account with USA Poker get an amazing opportunity to earn up to a $1000 bonus. Whatever rake you generate from your play in the first 21 days after you register, we'll give you an outstanding 50% cash bonus up to $1000 with no strings attatched. It doesn't matter how many deposits you make or how many hands you play.

"For example, if your play generates $300 of rake in the first 21 days after you register, we'll give you a $150 cash bonus. If you generate $2000 of rake, we'll give you an outstanding $1000 cash bonus!

This promotion is available to all players who register and account on or after 15th August 2005. It also applies to players who registered prior to this date, but made their first deposit on or after it."

it's a bad bonus if you play 1/2 limit. it's 50% rakeback, so almost any other deposit bonus is better for low limit players.

Thanks to kenberman,

But can anyone answer my question as to converting $1/2 hands played to rough rake amount generated, as an estimate?

$1/2 LHE average pot size will be $10-12 which will rake 50c. so split that amount by the number of players dealt into the hand, and the attributed revenue per player will be 5 cents (10-max) to 8.3 cents (6-max).

USA Poker is therefore offering you 50% of that revenue back as bonus, so accounting for hands which are raked slightly more or less than the average, you'll expect to earn between 2-5c per raked hand for those first 21 days of play.

generally speaking, you should not deal with any low limit bonuses which pay less than 100% rakeback equivalent. many sites have 200-400% and even higher available. if a site is going to offer a 50% rakeback deal, at least make it longer than just 21 days so high volume players will stick around. very unappetizing marketing by USA Poker.
