I listen to a lot of Reggae. Mainly the older stuff (Bob, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff...). Otherwise I don't know much about Rastafarianism but since pretty much all of their songs are about some aspect of the religion or them being put down by the man, I know a bit about it.

A common thread in a lot songs is about going back to Africa, the fatherland and all that. One thing puzzling me is that these guys all surely got rich as they are musical legends and sold plenty records both in Jamaica and outside. I know the business was pretty bad for the artists but surely they still must have had money. Given that they had enough and were able, why didn't these guys go back? Seems like a key element of the religion is moving back there so I'm surprised none did nor did they apparently start movements to actually get groups of people doing this.

As I said, I could be wrong on some of the details. If so please correct me.

Only way to know is to ask them.
