Sorry man..just vote again.

Every 4 years I think "didnt we just do this?" but i still vote for the leader of our country, and that isn't as important as this. And it's not close.

So far after 10 votes, the Smashing Pumpkins are at least twice as good as any other band, and infinitely better than all others.

Oh yeah, variance! I'm hoping to get at least 250 votes on this for there to be any semblance of accuracy. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

doobie brothers are the best band on this list of mostly bad bands.

09-14-2005, 07:39 PM
The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed in London and featured 1 American (Jimi) and 2 Englishmen (Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding) not 100% pure American.

Someone sent me a link to a page on either VH1 or MTV's website a few weeks back and there was a link to an article on "The Pixies." I don't care if people make the mistake of adding in the "the", but having MTV do it was shocking. FWIW, I'm not a fan so maybe this is acceptable and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, but I thought somewhere in my brain that it was just Pixies, a la Pavement, Doves, etc.

This poll is lame. Left off White Stripes, but somehow the Eagles got on there.

YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!

09-14-2005, 10:57 PM
Halen got left off b/c half the band is from The Netherlands or one of those countries.

The Cars... aren't they English as well? If they are purely American than I apologize but I thought they were primarily composed of Englishmen. That's why Fleetwood Mac got left off.

An argument could be made to keep Metallica off due to Lars Ulrich's European-ness, but 75% of them are American and so I left them on.

White Stripes?? Come on. I guess I could have put them on but they are too new.

He who said Live is not good is a fool. Live always writes good songs. Just because the radio hasn't played anything since "Throwing Copper" doesn't disqualify them.

Good poll so far but he who said "Why is Nirvana winning. They are not good" was very correct. Way, WAY overrated band from MY generation.

Oh, crap, I left Alice in Chains off the list! Whoops!

Probably because the Eagles are ridiculously talented? Yeah, Hotel California was/is overplayed...but it's still an amazing song. Felder doesn't get enough credit. If you throw out all of their ballads, they still had more than enough to make an amazing career.

Here I was, all set to vote...looking - looking - looking -- looking -

Where the hell is Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? Bruce Springsteen? E Street Band? Born in the USA is one of the top-selling albums ever? Has launched some of the highest grossing tours of all time?

Not American enough or something? Mr. Born In The USA?

Ever heard of this guy?

09-15-2005, 10:21 AM
Whoops.

That guy sux anyway. Nobody west of Jersey cares about that band. The only good thing that band ever did was let one of their members go on the "Sopranos".

But my bad. I'll take your vote into account.

Yep, I'm sure the sellouts all over America and Europe every time the guy tours are just a bunch of travelling Jerseyites.

Thank you for considering my vote.

Well, putting the White Stripes even in the consideration for best american band is pretty poor. And I think they're overrated. Longevity is a factor. I like the Doors, but I'd lump them in the overrated category as well.
