Listen up ! I am releasing my First pick on the twoplustwo message board.
Jaguars +10 at Indianapolis (http://sedgecourtjournalfootball.blogspot.com)
Thats right; I am rolling against my hometown Colts and laying the green on the Jags to cover the spread at the dome on Sunday. The Colts will win outright but; 10 points seems far to generous considering their last few matchups and the Colts inability to score in the first half last Sunday night.
Consider this; in their last two meetings the Jaguars have held the Colts to just 24 points. 10 fewer than the Colts averaged against their other opponents last season. In fact much is made about the Colts inability to beat New England, but Jacksonville has been an almost equal nemisis. The Jaguars have consistantly played the Colts tight and handed them their ONLY loss in the Dome last year. In fact the Colts are 1-2 against the Jaguars in their last three meetings. While the Nation saw a much improved Colt's Defense Sunday night, the real test for the Superbowl hopefuls comes Sunday.
The Colts Defense will see a much greater offensive threat from Leftwich and Taylor than they faced from the second rate Ravens last week. The Jaguars will not turn the ball over and Leftwich is one of the best young Quarterbacks in the league. The Jaguar defense held Seattle to just 14 points and MLB and former Colt Mike Peterson knows the Colts offensive schemes and how to react. "If we play within our scheme, we can stop anybody," he said , "The key [to playing Indianapolis] is to take the licks and keep ticking. A lot of teams when you see Indy hits them here, hits them there, the bottom falls out. "Don't sit back and say, 'Ah, they got us now.' When [Manning] hits a couple passes on us, get 'em on the next play. You've still got to attack."
This is a big AFC South divisional game from two team who recognize the potential playoff ramifications. I am looking forward to a great battle and a much closer score than the line suggest.
The "liquored up kicker" will win it for the Colts in the final seconds of the game.
Go Colts! just not by 10.
