I registered at napster and got my free trial. So that means unlimited downloads for the next week. I've got the core of hip hop, R&B, some rock/alternative. Just today, I've downloaded close to 1000 songs but it feels like I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg.

Please recommend me some other musical artists/songs in these genres

what I currently have
As for rap: 50, 2pac, eminem, dre, snoop, ludacris, etc..

As for rock/alternative: Blink (old school), Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Goldfinger, pennywise, etc

other: R. Kelly, Sean Paul, Marley

This may sound like a dumb question, but what type of music are you looking for? Old school, more alternative, more rock... etc. are you pretty much open to anything?

The correct answers are.

As for rap: 50(mediocre today good 5 years ago), 2pac(good), eminem(getting closer to mediocre today good 2 years ago), dre(good), snoop(AWFUL today good 7 years ago), ludacris(good), etc..

How can you say Luda sucks? Look past the radio tracks.

ok here's a few in the hip-hop category.. Not sure if they are all on Napster or not...

Albums -

Tribe called quest -any album, anthology is pretty comprehensive
Arrested Development - first album
Basehead - Play with Toys
Black Star - "Black Star"
Bone thugs - "The Collection" is pretty comprehensive
Cee-Lo - Both Albums
Common - Every album.. "Be" is my favorite.
De la Soul - "De La Soul is Dead" and "3 feet high and rising"
Del the Funky Homosapien - "I wish my brother george was here"
Digable Planets - "Reachin'" and "Blowout Comb"
Dizzie Rascal - "Boy in da Corner" and " Showtime"
The DOC - "No one can do it better"
Eric B. and Rakim - Every Album.. They have compilations but they all suck. If you have to get one go with "Paid in Full"
Fugees - "The Score"
Gang Starr - "Step into the Arena"
Geto Boys - "Greatest hits" has most of their good stuff.
Goodie Mob - "Soul Food"
Jurassic 5 - "Power in Numbers" and "Quality Control"
Kool G. Rap - another good GH album
Lauryn Hill - "MTV Unplugged" and "Miseducation"
LL Cool J - Everything <1995
Madvillian - Madvilliany
Mike Jones - Who is Mike Jones
Mos Def - All
Nas - "Illmatic" "Stillmatic" and "It was written"
N.W.A. - everything
Notorious BIG - everything
Outkast - everything especially "Stankonia"
The Pharcyde - "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde"
Public Enemy - "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" "Fear of a Black Planet" "Apocolypes 91" - also the songs "give it up" and "he got game," but forget the albums they came from.
The Roots - "Illadelph Halflife" "Tipping Point" "Phrenology" - Have not heard the other albums but I suspect they are great
Run DMC - "High Profile" is a good compilation
Slick Rick "Great Adventures of Slick Rick"
Talib Kweli - All
Wu-Tang Clan and all their solo albums.. too many to list

Some singles that came off of crap albums... imo /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Brand Nubian - "Don't let it go to your head"
EPMD - "Crossover"
Pete Rock and CL Smooth "They Reminisce over you (TROY)"
Paperboy - "Ditty"
MC Eiht - "Straight up Menance" Actually the whole "Menace II Society" and "Boyz N tha Hood" albums are great.
Guru and Bob Marley - "Johnny was"
Jurassic 5 - "Concrete Schoolyard" - This is off their EP which I didn't really like.. just my opinion though.

When people tell me they do not like Jay-Z, I tell them to look beyond the singles.

Luda is club banger music through and through. I have never heard a luda track that wasn't.

to OP:

Hip-Hop

immortal technique

blackalicious

e and a

mos def - new danger

Other cool albums

space monkeyz vs gorillaz: laika come home
