View Full Version : Should I have folded?

If you're wondering why I got so passive on turn and river it's because I noticed that villain had pretty low AF on these two streets so I just slowed down when he bet into me.
That's the only read I had on him...just the PT stats that I got from observing the table while I'm not home. he was like 43/4.5

What is the 4.5? PFR?

Yes

I'd be inclined to raise the turn. If three bet, then I might have some questions. If not, I still check behind any flush card on the river.

I'd like to hear reasons for otherwise.

I'd raise teh Turn fold if three bet-_- and if a really scare card comes on river id check behind

I'd raise this turn a lot but the guy here was the kindda person who just check/calls down all the time except when he hits something good. His AF for all streets were .5 or less which kindda scared me when he was betting.

I just think and I'm probably wrong here that considering your read calling down is a bad play here

I just call down. The reason is that I don't want to get 3-bet, b/c at Party .50/1.00 I am not comfortable folding to it. By raising the turn we either A) Getting called by a draw or folding a weak hand or a bluff B) Folding a weak hand or bluff C) Getting 3-bet by a hand that is likely (2/3 of the time?) beating us. Calling down we allow the weak hands and bluffs to bet into us, without risking getting 3-bet which I think we have to call.

If all the read you had were from the stats, you need to have a decent amount of hands to back it up. Otherwise, I don't recommend any lines that involve a laydown.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with the last poster here. I think this is a raise/fold situation. To make calling down profitable, we'd have to win almost 50% of the time to show a profit. Further, half the cards in the deck put a 3-flush on the board. It's certainly conceivable he's betting with overs and a flush draw here, and we need to extract value from that if it misses. If 3-bet, get angry. And if he calls the turn and pops the river, muck.

Then again, my turn play sucks, so I could be way off.

This is not right. There are already 3.25BB in the pot. Every time we call down and win, we win 5.25BB. We call down and lose we lose 2BB. So we have to be good only have to be good like 1/3 of the time to be profitable.

I see your point about extracting value and I do agree. But I'm saying that based on my experience in these games I can't fold to a 3bet or river lead b/c people bluff or are betting weaker hands too often. So it comes down to how often do you think they're doing it with a draw, a bluff, or a 7. And this is like impossible to determine so I just call down.
