i feel like i really let myself get outplayed here. about 3 hands before i 3/4d him when he called me down with no low and a weak straight. (he had 3579). all the way down i had him for a flush draw but didnt want to check on the river and give him a liscense to bluff me. yet the more i think about it i feel like he may have been pushing a low and i made a bad read. in situations like this, should you just suck it up and call expecting to lose yet knowing youll win enough to maybe justify the call? I feel like i did everything right till the river where i really let myself down. any analysis good or bad is appreciated.

I am an O8 novice... but in principle, your call was $21 into an $86 pot - 4 to 1. So, if you think you can scoop 20% of the time, call. If a split was likely, you are still 2 to 1 - so splitting 33% of the time seems to also make the call correct.

The best hand that matches his bets would seem to be AdKs4s5x - he picks up the 2 pair on the turn that justifies calling your pot bet. But how likely is it that he would not raise this pre-flop?

I'm interested in what others think - w

The river card was really lousy for you; I think you just have to accept that. Check the river and call only a small bet. There's no need to give him an extra $15.
