Hi Guys! Thanks for making this the best poker site on the net!
Sat down at a heads-up game tonight, 1-2 blinds NL.
This is against a quite tight player, but willing to take a risk to make the best hand...
I get Ad 5d and bets, he calls
Flop: 3c 4s 9s

I bet, he calls... My guess, he's on a flush draw.

Turn: 5c

I bet, he calls... still trying for that spade i think...

River: 5h

I bet, he reraises and i think he's bluffing...i reraise and he calls..

He shows 99 and takes the pot...i hated this!
was i doing the wrong thing? did i play that hand wrong?
thanks!

The river reraise was pretty hopeless "if you think he's bluffing" since he'll fold if you are correct. Otherwise, its unlikely he's got say 65 and is willing to gamble with you.

It sure looks like a slow-played set to me. Pay off the raise or don't pay off the raise.

Note: you should have gotten VERY suspicious when he called the turn bet, since tight players don't like flush draws heads-up for big bets, and rightfully so. Tight players like this WILL trap, and WILL try to make the best hand if they figure they'll get paid off.

You may want to avoid the NL games, even if they seem "small" at 1/2 blinds.

One think to make sure you include in future posts if you decided to stay with no limit is how big the bet is. Saying I bet doesn't mean much, since there is a big difference between someone calling a minimum bet and one for half their stack.

Also, be careful putting people on hands with so little information unless you know them very well.
