At 3 on Pokerstars. Anyone else playing? I played in a few satellites, bot are the stud players bad. Unfortunately pairs didn't hold up and 4 flushes in those crazy multiway pots never hit. Still did ok, but I'll be buying in directly /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Does anyone know why they hold these tournaments during the day when most people are working? Very irritating, because I would have definitely played this.

I'm thinking about it. Anyone play in it last year? If so, what did you think? I've done extremely well with the 33$ and 55$ Party SNGs, but I have not played in any larger Stud MTTs. How do you think it will differ?

SNG's is much more about bubble play. To do well in big tourneys you have to try to get a big stack. This way you can ::

-wait for big hands
-make a bunch of money on big hands (instead of going AI for 3 BB)
-say alive when you lose a hand

In general you will/should be able to do this 1 of 2 ways
-steal very frequently on a tight table
-play monsters on a loose table.

I'd much rather have a tight table that I can steal from because that involves alot less risk. When the opponents are loose sometimes you are gonna have to hope you high pair stands up against 2 opponents or more.

I'm in. No idea what to expect but should be worth a swing. I think a lot will be those rich HE players just wanting to play as many wcoop events as possible.

What is your SN for Stars? I'm playing it...

SN = "Djloiq"

Best of luck.

I think waiting for big hands and playing pretty tight will be a good strategy for this one since you get 2500 chips and the levels only move up every 30 mins

I guess I'll reveal that my Stars name is CrimeThInc. GL all!

You get a special structure for WCOOP events??

Now I really want to play...ahhh

mscags

Yeah, I think it is a great structure. I really want to play in the H/L event on Wed but it is a 500 buy in and I don't want to fork up that much cash so I need to win a sat. Also I have to skip a class...oh well.

Skipping class is so much easier than skipping work. But doing either is pretty retarded

unless it is the class I'm in right now and I keep wanting to jam my pen in my eye......

Interesting that they have a $300 Stud event and a $500 Stud-8 event. Perhaps it ought to be the other way around?

So far the play is much closer to what I'm used to... a bit too loose but people will fold, I've even successfully semi-bluffed. The ante structures are such that you don't want to play TOO tight which is also something I like.

At first limit increase I have T2635.

I'm watching you, just wished you gl on the table but you are obviously concentrating too hard to notice!

Chipping along. Coupla hands got me to 3.4k at 1st break.

Bartholow

At the second break I have T2995, just below average. My aces haven't been making second pairs, but I also haven't been playing great I think. Play still seems relatively loose.

I'd almost forgotten how slow building a stack is with limit games.

not many good hands, but one ambush with trip 6's made on 4th helped a lot when I got paid off. 4.5k at 2nd break.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised everyone's still so loose with betting and paying off 2 hrs in.

I'm out almost 3 hours in. I think I suck vs. ppl who don't fold. A few key hands could have of course turned things around though.

Oddly... right when Bart busted, they moved me to his former seat. Pretty low on chips at the moment though... 2.7k. I've gotten no hands.

Two playable hands in the last hour. About 40% of the rest of the time I've been the bring-in. 2.8k. Need to move some chips - going down swinging with garbage seems the most likely scenario.

Out #181. Unbelievable bad run. Four flushes five times on fourth street and cannot hit one. Final hand, AAQs vs. 589 and naturally get sucked out for the last k.

I don't play on Stars a ton, but I'm pretty sure they have way more stud/8 action than stud. So, it kind of makes sense that they make stud/8 the bigger event. It is interesting to see how online poker differs from B&M though.
