Today is the 14th day of my mini purchase. I'm wondering if I should go exchange it for a nano. Basically the same storage with color display and smaller for an extra $50. Thoughts?

I saw a nano yesterday. They're smaller that you think.

Tough call. Did you buy a lot of accessories that won't work with the nano?

I got my nano on Friday. It's the shiznit. Dead [censored] sexy.

All accessories should work just fine. Unless you mean like a case or cover where the footprint matters.

OK, I think I will switch. Just didn't know if there any issues with the nano like being to fragile.

kind of off subject, I have been putting off the purchase of an ipod, but i think it is time... my question is, why the 4g nano for $200.00, when you can get a 20g ipod for $50.00 more?? 16g more for $50.00?? seems like an easy decision or am i wrong? now the choice is even harder because of the form factor of the nano...

ever bought a compact umbrella you can fit into a bag? well the big umbrellas are probably just a bit more, but protect you from more rain.

it's a matter of convenience. i love my mini, because it wasn't as big as the full size ipods. sure i think having the bigger space is cool, but for myself, i didn't need that much music with me.

now that the nano is out, and even smaller, it's even more appealling to me.

My old iPod was a 20 gig model. The deciding factors in upgrading (and I really mean upgrading) were: the nano is smaller, the nano is black, and I've only got 2 gigs of songs.

I saw an article last week where the avg iPod has 550 songs on it. Sure, its nice to have your ENTIRE music library on a single device, but it is truly unnecessary. I'm still rockin the first generation 10GB from back in the day. I get compliments from it to this very day for being ahead of the curve. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

bump. Just got the armband deliverd before the actual unit. I've resisted Apples' temptations before, but I must admit, I'm getting a little excited here.

Oh, I have a 40 Gig Iriver, and it's awesome. But for working out, (as long as it works) this is going to be the best thing on the market.

I am hoping the release of the nano makes all the shuffle's go cheaper on ebay. A ipod shuffle just seems like a cheaper, better alternative.

You have no idea how similar our nano experiences have been. I feel exactly the same. We both live in NYC (I'm on UWS), so maybe they even get delivered by the same UPS guy.

Nano is better than the regular iPod because it's solid state, no hard drive. That means vastly superior battery life and no worrying about moving while listening.

anything from iriver crushes either of those, i would say the same about the cowan iaudio series. however, ipods definitly have their merits, they use a high quality wolfson dac that actually sounds very good, and it has a line out adapter that you can use if you want to hook it to a stereo, you wont hear me hating on ipods. if they came out with an ipod with an optical out i would literally pay like 350 bucks for it.

iAudio/Cowan has this too. I've got mine hooked up to my home stereo right now.

Anyway, what I really came in here to say, though, was that I just saw on the news one of the memory manufacturers just came out with a 16GB flash memory chip. I'd imagine we'll be seeing 16GB 'nano' players in the not too distant future. Aside from all iPod bashing or suggestions for other brands, I'd hold out just a little while longer before I bought one of these.

I made the switch. I couldn't get the black 4 gig one right away (the white one was available), so now I'm on the wait list of about 20 people. I played around with the ones there - they are very sweet.
