This will be my first time visiting Vegas to Poker (I've been to vegas before but I was underage so i could not gamble there )

Where is the best place to poker? (looking for 6-12/10-20 limit games)

Also where is the best place to stay? Is there poker room rates?

I live in Canada, are "packages" worth while purchasing?

Thanks,

Ivan

For room rates see http://www.pokerkicksass.com/RoomInfo.html. ALso check out http://www.allvegaspoker.com/ for poker room reviews and much more.

Monte Carlo and Luxor also have rates. Monte Carlo rate is very good and the hotel is in a good location and connected by a Tram to Bellagio, however the biggest game they spread is $4-8.

Packages aren't worth it if you get the poker rate - to get it just call the poker room and book through them. At the limits you want to play, Bellagio, Mirage and Wynn are your best bets.

I was about to start a new thread, but I thought I'd hijack this one.

What's the difference between the normal rate and the 'poker rate'? At what limit does it kick in, and what are the conditions (do you have to spend a certain amount of time at the tables or something?). I'm looking to hit the Bellagio 15/30 and 30/60 tables if that makes any difference.

I'd also try MGM Grand, which spreads $6/12 and $10/20 (at times). Bellagio and Wynn are good but start at $4/8, then go to $8/16 and up...Mirage has $6/12...
Most poker room rates are a function of time (6 hours I believe at Bellagio and Wynn)...

Mirage is 6 hours fo play sun-thurs and 8 hours on fri-sat.
Bellagio is 6 hours of play any 7 days of the week. Call Peggy in the poker office. No one beats the Bellagio for soft games with good action.

Good luck,
Kevin

Poker rate is a discount from the published rate. Varies by casino, but isn't anything like a free room. you usually have to put in 4-8 hours of play in the card room to qualify. Limits usually don't matter.

I can't speak to the bellagio's policy.

Also, at the Bellagio, once you've done this once and are rated, you get the rate any time after that with no playing requirements. At the Mirage, you have to play 6-8 hours per day on every trip. I'm not sure what the policy is at the Wynn. The Bellagio's poker room rate is $129/night Sun-Thurs and $199/night Fri-Sat.
