Meet my friend: .

The rule isn't that crazy. As far as I know, almost all other casinos allow anyone to see all mucked hands, as long as it at the showdown. This rule is a step in the right.

The "I want to see that hand" rule (IWTSTH) - search for it for more.

Limiting it to once per dealer down is a good rule, if you ask me. Trump across the marina limits it to twice per down.

Oh, to elaborate. At many casinos, you can invoke this rule as often as you want - or as long as the other players will tolerate before killing you.

The rule is designed to prevent collusion - but is often abused by people who are just curious to know what the person had. It seems to me that most of the people who frequently ask to see the cards are unbelievable asses and quite often very bad at poker. In most cases, it's preposterous to think that they could actually use the information they've gained to obtain any significant advantage.

Some people use the rule once in a great while, if there's a huge pot and a possible bluff. I still think this is sort of an angle shoot - because it's not what the rule is there for - but as long as people use it only once in a great while, I don't mind. People who use it once or twice every half hour are annoying.

The best version of this rule that I've seen in Vegas is the followinng:

ONLY the players involved in the actual showdown of the hand may ask to see a called/folded hand.
