I was raising 80% of hands and won the blinds basically every time. They were folding my BB to me basically every time. So I folded, with the intention of pushing any two cards next hand.

I like it. If you push here BB is too desprate to call, and will very likely be a favorite. If you push into his SB, hes not as desprate and more apt to fold.

and:

If/when shorty doubles up against you (if you were to push here) and the middle stack sees what you show down, he's likely going to get more aggressive against you (if he has any kind of a clue).

Good fold

You mean he's going to start calling allins when he has the 3rd guy covered 3:1?

I think his range of calling hands widens considerably. Many of his new calling range hands will be ones you dont want to be called with.

I would NEVER fold here. I don't really think its so close.

I know the math says don't fold, and that it's not close (mathwise). That's not why I folded though.

Yes I understand why you didnt fold, I just think that most of the time this reasoning is overrated, and Ive stated this over and over on 2+2. You basically are saying youd rather not have 1000 chips (which is almost 1/4tth of all the chips remaining outside of your stack), just to gain some strategical advantages. I don't think its worth it.

I'm not guaranteed to win the 1k chips, in fact most of the time I lose the 1k chips. Sure, I am getting 3:1 on my money when I am usually a 2:1 dog. But, (I know you know curtains this is for those who might not) the medium stack is in the blind next hand. So I am getting really great price to push any two next hand, and if they both fold -which is likely, I make back more expected money than I threw away this hand plus those two guys are closer in chips at a smallera amount and I'm more likely to have an even bigger lead HU.

Its irrelevant whether or not you will win the 1k chips, because if you lose, you still have the same +ev situation on the following hand.
