View Full Version : Winning lots of money, but not from the button

09-11-2005, 10:32 AM
Hi,

I am consistenly loosing money from the big blind, even tho I'm at 6.11 BB/100 with 3k hands played at 1/2 tables.

Is that normal, or am I making some rookie mistake?

Help higjly appreciated

Uh, you're forced to pay .5BB per hand whether you care to play it or not. Show me a guy who profits out of the BB and I'll show you my next coach.

uhh, sorry!

I mean from the button, not the BB.

My fault

I am actually way up in my BB, but I chalk that down to variance.

I have only played 3.ooo hands, so I know my satts are inacurrate, but I still have trouble with the Button.

What number of hands are needed to have a sufficient proof that something is wrong with the way I play?

About 100.000 hands would give you decently accurate stats.

To clarify what Ugge said, it is generally accepted that your win rate is pretty much worthless at anything less than 10,000 hands (and it's still far from accurate even then). So it would stand to reason that you would need about that many hands from the Button before you could say with any certainty whether or not you're really losing money from that position. Your 3,000 (total) hand sample is pretty much meaningless as far as your win rate from the Button is concerned.

For example, over my last 3,000 hands, I'm showing a pretty significant profit from both blinds (this will never hold up over time, no matter how good you are, unless you exclusively play heads up matches), but I'm losing money from the CO (which is normally a very profitable position).
