Pennington needs to be benched until healthy. You can't let a guy with a sub-par-as-is arm play when his arm is less than 100%. Looks like less than 85%, to be honest. He looks horrid.

You're a jerkoff. The Super Bowl thing is a joke. And there wasn't nearly enough preseason to determine anything.

I love it. Maybe your boy Jay Fiedler can bail them out.

Looks like a bust. The sad part is that most pieces of this team are actually pretty good, especially the defense. But you can't score points when your game plan is run up the middle 50% of the time, then the other 50% of the time run a 3 yd pass play because your QB is unable to make throws any further than that. Pennington is really hurting this team now, but politics will ensure that he starts next week.

brettbrettr

Herm needs to grow a pair and bench him (if Fielder can go). If neither of them can go, we should trade for Volek (unlikely, they said in the offseason they wanted a #1) or bring back...Vinny. Sad that that seems like a good option right now. Very, very sad.

At least Fabini is out for the year. He has looked 100% horrible.

Agreed on every count. Despite all the crap that the Jets and Pennington have spewed, his shoulder is still not 100%. I really think Pennington is hurting this team right now. I give him an "A" for effort, but his production is not even remotely as good.

If Fiedler isn't hurt, Edwards should be using him until Pennington can throw with velocity again. That might be another month or next season.

I've heard things like Martin hasn't exactly looked good either. But the O-Line play has been horrible and they have gone against some good defenses. It's also pretty easy to defend against the run when you don't have to worry about the pass.

This team is closer to drafting Matt Leinart than getting into the playoffs, much less making the superbowl. Looking at that brutal schedule coming up, I can easily imagine this team winning only 4 or 5 games this year.

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Jets quarterback Chad Pennington will miss the rest of the season because of a torn right rotator cuff, The Associated Press learned Monday night.

Pennington's injury was confirmed by a person with knowledge of his condition, but who declined to be identified because the team had not made an official announcement.

An MRI exam showed Pennington tore his rotator cuff in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to Jacksonville. The NFL Network originally reported the injury, the second time Pennington has had this tear in less than a year.

Pennington was expected to visit noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Tuesday.

Maybe the jets can get Reggie Bush in the draft.

Now, sure. But we were a kick away from getting to lose to The Pats in the AFC Championship game last year and this Super Bowl thread started *before* the season. We lost Ferg, signed Law, felt ok about things.

Yes, our schedule does suck. No, if we win 5 games we're not drafting Leinert. It does you no good to have a good QB when you're left tacklle is a [censored] matador. I'll take D'Brickashaw. But its a bit too soon to be talking draft.

I would guess there is a hard split between Giants and Jets fans.

Chad Pennington is out, but somehow you just had this odd feeling at the beginning of the year something wasn't right for him. Maybe the chosen backup QB will actually help the offense more. Anyways, this team will not make it to the superbowl. They will be lucky if they can make it to the playoffs.

Our playcalling was 100% horrible in that game. Had a chance if we don't run the ball on 3rd down, twice, when the box was stacked. Awful.

Seems dumping Hackett didn't change that much. Maybe it is a different person on that coaching staff that's the problem (ahem)?

I didn't see the game. How did Bollinger look? His stats seem ok. Mediocre, not horrible.

brettbrettr
10-02-2005, 08:12 PM
This is Herm being ultra-conservative.

I don't know, maybe I'm a gambler but I don't think we win that game playing conservative so I let the kid sling the ball. I mean, they had 9 in the box.

Bollinger has 70 yds going into the 4th quarter. Made some good throw then, too little too late.

Oh, and once again we dropped a ton of passes.

Voltron87

i watched 3-4 plays of a jets drive in the 3rd or 4th quarter and bollinger looked awful. he was slow to drop and had absolutely no power.

Small sample. He looked good on some plays too, esp late in the 4th when they called passing plays.

yeah i qualified saying that i only saw a couple plays. but regardless, hes a third stringer for a reason, and i dont see how the jets season is going to be anything other than awful. i mean, they looked bad in the weeks before their first two QBs went out.

brettbrettr
10-02-2005, 08:31 PM
No, I agree. I don't think we win 6 games. I think with Fiedler we'd contend for a playoff spot. Chad was hurt, hence us looking awful in the first two.

schadenfreude bump.

The Jets have looked pretty terrible so far tonight (through 3 quarters). One decent drive, and about 37 minutes of trainwreck. Depending on how Testaverde's achilles turns out, they may have just lost yet another quarterback too.

edit - looks like once Vinny left they pulled the offense together. Hmmmm.....
