At the $50 NLs:

My first 3500 hands:

-9.25 PTBB/100, VP$IP 18%, PFR 5.5%, Agg 2.93

My last 3000 hands:

+17.71 PTBB/100, VP$IP 18%, PFR 6.78%, Agg 3.73

I think I turned a lot of things around from the first group to the second group, most notably not making nearly as many bad calls. I also hear the $100 tables aren't much more difficult than the $50s. If I'm fairly certain this isn't just variance, and I have the roll for it, do I need to move up? Or do I need to make SURE it's not variance and get some more under my belt?

if you have the roll sure why not.

if not, then stay longer and play at least 5k more hands.

There is definitely some variance at work here. You don't go from a -9.25 PTBB/100 player to a +17.71 PTBB/100 player in 3000 hands. Seriously, one big hand can change your PTBB/100 stat by 5 points in a 3000 hand sample.

Having said that, though, go ahead and try the $100's if you are bankrolled for it and you can stand to lose a few hundred dollars if you start out running bad like your first 3500 hands.

I can tell by your VP$IP that you are playing full ring. They say that once you get up there in limits, 6max becomes much more profitable, and usually 6max is all that'll be available.
Why not move "up" to $50NL 6max?

I'm not an expert, but I don't think you can tell much from 3k hands. My first 3k hands of 25nl, after moving to ring games from SNGS, AA, KK, QQ, JJ, and AKs are all losers for me. Pretty sure that doesn't happen over a decent sample size.

I'm sort of considering that option myself, but after honing my full ring skills for so long with such effort, the task of learning a slightly different game is kind of overwhleming. Is there a guide for people converting to 6 max anywhere? That would save me a lot of trouble, such as learning the hard way that 98s is still marginal, even at 6 max.
