View Full Version : Limit MTT Help!!

09-10-2005, 12:33 AM
I entered into a Limit MTT by accident just now(God I'm an idiot), give me some general principles that differ from NL.

How do I play low pairs? What happens if I raise with big face cards and whiff?

This is a $1+0 Satillite on Empire.

Thanks for the help. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can limp with low pairs, but don't call a raise unless you think it be a very multiway pot. In general, suited connectors are less valuable in limit.

If your big cards whiff, don't try to force better hands to fold, unless there's only one or two opponents on an uncoordinated board. Since this is a micro limit MTT, I'm assuming people won't fold any pair or draw.

If you flop a good but not great hand, try to use betting and check/raising to force you're opponents to call two bets and make it incorrect for them to call with overcards or weak draws. That's oversimplified, of course, but I guess we don't have time for details.

If you flop a solid hand, don't take a "trapping" mentality, just value bet them to death. Limit is about exploiting every slight EV edge you have, not tricking people into losing their stack in one hand.

yea, that's fairly key in the transition from limit to NL. If you flop quads in limit then bet at it.
