View Full Version : Dealer error on internet?

Have you ever had the best hand online and the "dealer" given the pot to the wrong player?

I have had this happen to me twice, on different sites.

Both time support has responded to me by telling me my hand was not what I said it was.

I have no way of proving otherwise, but I know what I was looking at.

The first time this happened I thought that maybe I was mistaken. But last night it happened again and I am 100% sure there was a mistake by the site and it cost me a 15 big bet pot.

Has this happened to any of you?

you have 450 posts here and you STILL ask questions like this?

edit: nvm, a majority of your posts are OOT and WPT..

Post the hand history for that hand, and I may believe you.

I'm very 99% skeptical of this error, but if so, please post Hand History.

maybe the dealer and the other player had a secret deal going on. you should definitely report that dealer to the pokerroom. I hope you didnt tip him.

You probably misread your hand. Give us the hand histories and let us see 'em.

Back when I was a noob to online poker, I thought this happened to me a couple of times too. However, every time I looked at the hand histories I discovered that I was wrong. Either I had mistaken one of my hole cards for something else (an A for a 4, for instance), or I had misread the board due to fatigue, lack of attention, or what have you.

Here is the hand history emailed to me from support:

The thing is, I had AJ, not AQ. I am 100% sure of this as it was the only table I was playing at the time and capped the turn and river.

For Game#: 44546390, the hand history is as follows:
>
>Board cards: 8s, 9c, Ad, Jc, As
>
>"Ec4y" won with a full house, eight full of Aces holding : 8d, 8c
>
>You had Three of a Kind of Ace with : Qs, Ah
>
>Ec4y wins pot ($150) with full house, Eights full of Aces. There are
> 2 Aces in the board card.
>
>Hope this clears up the misunderstanding.

I'm not convinced. I'm nearly certain the software doesn't make errors once every 10 million hands, and no, internet poker is not out to get you.

I was playing at a 5-10 limit. I won $135 on a hand the guy that lost told me he had 4 of a knid and that he should have won. So I sent him $50. Becouse I am nice. BTW I play on party

The closest thing I have seen, was on Pacific. I got the Congradulations, but the pot shipped to him. Upon review of the HH, my opp had actually won the hand, it was the Congradualations that was in error.

I am not trying to convince you, or anyone else, of anything. Nor do I think internet poker, or anyone, is out to get me.

I have averaged 12,000 hands/week online for the past 9 months - so I trust the inegrity of the game. However, I do not know anything about the software that runs these games and if it is capable of occasionally making this kind of error. And if it is, how often.

So I thought I might ask a group of players who may have played as much, or more, online poker than I have to see if my experience is unique. I am so thankful for the helpful responses (sic).

the Congradualations was becouse most people would have lost more money if they were playing the hand you had

This happened a few times on planet poker. If you had a str8 flush vs an Ace high flush in hi/lo games it would give the A high flush the high (because it thought it was the higher flush). Saw this happen twice in tourneys. I assume the new software fixed this but who knows. That site is know for bad software.

This happens on Truepoker on ocassion in Omaha 8 when one or more of your opponents have gone all in and you are last to act on the river and call. It will always automatically tell you that you've won, but doesn't push the chips to you unless you've actually won.

I would have told this person to complain to support. It's more likely that the person is mistaken rather than being cheated.

I'm just curious as to what you want us forumers to do about your problem. Suppose you were telling the truth and they messed up. We can't give you your money back, only Support can, and they apparently won't. do you want a cookie? A shoulder to cry on? If that really happened, that sucks man, but if its not going to keep you from continuing to play on their site, there's not much you can do, eh?

09-09-2005, 02:56 PM
So you've played nearly half a million hands in the last 9 months and you've seen this happen twice? What's more likely, that you just misread the cards a couple times or that the sites' software is coded such that 0.0002% of the pots are just given to a random player? A C student in an entry-level programming class could write a program to compare 2 poker hands correctly. It's not that hard. And if there was an error, it would surely show up more than twice in half a million hands. A computer algorithm that simple doesn't just "make mistakes" like that with that kind of frequency unless someone intentionally rigged it. But you'd never imply that would you? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Damn it! I just set my last $5,000 to the Liberian Oil Minister so he can free up $10 million that was left in a safe deposit box in South Africa by an oil tycoon tragically killed in an automobile accident last week. When I get my $2 million finder's fee I'll get you that $100.

I can't see how a site could make such a simple programming error. If you have no way to prove it (which means you have no hand history), that must mean that you don't know how to check hand histories so I'd assume that your eyes played a trick on you. Sometimes it goes so fast I have to pull up the history to see what happened

09-09-2005, 05:01 PM
Are you sure??
never happened to me, never heard of this either

Its happened to me twice in ~million hands. Both times I was convinced I had a hand different to the one in the hand history. I'm inclined to believe it was my mistake but it is very disorientating when it happens.
