I already have Dane Cook's old (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009V7U2/qid=1126256304/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-9272178-6382469?v=glance&s=music) and new (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009W5ITW/qid=1126256304/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-9272178-6382469?v=glance&s=music) ones, and ditto for Mitch (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000YTOQM/qid=1126256304/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/002-9272178-6382469?v=glance&s=music) Hedberg (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000DZ3HR/qid=1126256304/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-9272178-6382469?v=glance&s=music).

Anyone recommend any other relatively new comics who have stuff on CD/MP3?

Anything by Lewis Black, my favorite is The White Album (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004U4ST/qid=1126266421/sr=8-7/ref=pd_bbs_7/102-1793271-5587344?v=glance&s=music&n=507846)

Edit: He does a whole bit on hurricanes in this album that you may want to skip. It's hilarious in general, but not so much lately.

Eddie Izzard. He's hilarious, but not for everyone so download some of his stuff to check it out first.

Thing about Eddie to me is, he's so cerebral, that he's more 'chuckle' funny, or, 'hmmmm, yes, that's pretty funny' funny, as opposed to Dave Chappelle rofl piss-your-pants funny.

Check out Brian Regan - he's real funny, and has some CDs that are worth listening to.

He had a 1/2 hour on Comedy Central once - that was some of his best stuff.

Not a CD, but this DVD of Ralphie May here (http://www.audiorevolution.com/dvd/revs/ralphie_mayp2.html) is excellent

May makes fun of everyone regardless of race, gender, etc.

Its not that expensive (http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Ralphie%20May%20-%20Just%20Correct:1808533549;_ylc=X3oDMTB1azBibTIw BF9TAzk2NjMyOTA3BHNlYwNmZWVkBHNsawN2aWRlbw--) either, I highly recommend it.

That's what I mean by not for everyone. My brother-in-law, for example. Great guy, but not well read when it comes to history, political science type stuff - and he doesn't really get Eddie Izzard at all. But if you know the basics of European history, classic literature etc. it's magnitudes funnier.

Darko, good call on Ron White. He's pretty great.

why does everyone think mitch hedberg is so funny?

09-09-2005, 10:46 AM
Because he died so it got trendy to like him real quick. Here are some Hedburg "jokes":

I got an ant farm. Them fellas didn't grow [censored].

I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier than helping someone move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load [censored] into a truck.

I got my hair highlighted, because I felt some strands were more important than others.

I had a stick of Carefree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor, I was back to pondering my mortality.

I want to be a race car passenger: just a guy who bugs the driver. "Say man, can I turn on the radio? You should slow down. Why do we gotta keep going in circles? Can I put my feet out the window? Boy, you really like Tide."

I got in an argument with a girlfriend inside of a tent. That's a bad place for an argument, because I tried to walk out, and had to slam the flap.

I type a 101 words a minute. But it's in my own language.

I was cracking up reading these to myself. That's good stuff. Some people don't like one-liners.

I also thought he was funny long before he died. Jesus, he just died a few months ago, didn't he? I always thought of him as the West Coast's Steven Wright.

if you like this album, he stole most of his material from the late bill hicks.

bill hicks is not for everyone but i love his stuff. he does left wing political rantings, shocking sex comments and drug bits. his bits still sound fresh today when he rants about bush and iraq. bill hicks died from cancer in 1993 at the age of 32.

after hicks died the joke was, did you hear that dennis leary's career finally took off? yeah, because there's no cure for cancer.

Was it Hicks or Leary who did the bit about how he hated non-smokers, especially the ones who would do the little fake cough, "Ahem. Ahem".

"Damn, that's a pretty bad cough you got there, you better quit smoking."

Cracks me up, even though I can't remember which of them said it.
