10/20 Party full

All stacks about $ 2000. Pretty tight game. $ 100 raise usually takes the blinds. Fish (me) is EP with 1010. I try the blind steal /images/graemlins/blush.gif and raise to $ 100. Late position calls, two blinds call.

Now I am confused.

Flop is 10-8-7 rainbow. Blinds check. I bet $ 400, to take it down there. Late position min raises to $ 800. Blinds fold.

I think haha, he flopped his set of 7's or 8's, or 99, or 87 and thinks I am folding my possible AA/KK.

I go all in. He calls instantly.

1. the way you look at poker is fascinating... its like a case study.
2. do not get away from this hand.

I would wager that very few people on this board have ever folded top set on the flop on a rainbow board. I assume that Villain showed you the nuts since you posted the hand, but "getting away" should be the furthest thing from your mind here. You aren't exactly drawing dead against J9 and you will see 77 or 88 a lot of the time.

Not that many people call J9 for $100 preflop.

Hey, here comes the flood of "stop being gay" or "gay that" and quoting each others' posts!

Can we agree, always:

If you put in full raise in EP, get 3 callers, and hit top set with 100bb stack, you're going all the way on the flop if given the chance?

If not, what do the circumstances have to be for this to be so?

i really need to figure out how to use the hand converter thing. sadly, i am a computer illiterate.

p.s. i am not gay, but if i was, is there anything wrong with that?

no... and if you are... a/s/l?

Anyway, NH. Sucks if a straight got you, but I'm thinking you're good enough of the time to make that move in this situation.

Folding top set on this board for these size stacks is not an option. Your opponents hand range includes 88 & 77 as well as some players having AA or 99 or even JJ in a few rare cases here so don't even think about laying down top set here. You still have a 1/3 chance of winning this hand whereas if your opponents have an under set or an overpair they are nothing close to that vs you, the JJ and 99 have the best shot but they are still in terrible shape. Sucks if he has J9 but not by that much.
