Okay, as of now I own something like 8 DVD's. I have:
Casino
Tommyboy
Reservoir Dogs
The Waterboy( /images/graemlins/crazy.gif)
Tupac:Resurrection
Chappelle's Show:Season 1
Seinfeld:Seasons 1 & 2
and I am going to buy Goodfellas soon. So yeah, recommend some DVD's for me. Mostly comedies and stuff like my current DVD's(Casino, Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas)
Go for it.

I tried watching this when it first came out and ended up missing an episode and couldn't get back into it. Maybe I will get it on Netflix now.
Doctor Strangelove (still holds up 40 years later)
Dumb and Dumber
and I definitely agree that you should get Band of Brothers for yourself...worth watching like ten times over.

i didn't bother to read all the posts, but my 2 cents:
if you're gonna get 'goodfellas' (and you should), get the scorsese collection. it's a better value and you get the bonus of 'mean streets'. also, get 'taxi driver' and 'raging bull'
get 'cassablanca' and/or 'citizen kane', which are great and will make you look smarter than you are.
get one foreign film for the same reason ('amelie' and 'y tu mama tambien' are good choices)
'pulp fiction' and 'the usual suspects'
get some cool older movies like 'the great escape' or 'the dirty dozen' or 'the sting'.
that should get you started.
