Way too many words for a real trip report, so I have condensed and highlighted the weekend from a Slacker’s perspective.

Vast majority will be true and mostly accurate except for the occasional exaggeration. Feel free to admonish, embellish and just ish /images/graemlins/smirk.gif in general as needed. Following is a small sample of the occurrences, activities and fun that I can remember.

In random order:

I:

Found out that Raptor really does have skills and can actually play poker!

Listened to Dali talk in the casino. A lot.

Met his friend Eric (great dude) who didn’t talk much. Well, nobody could get a word in anyway, I’m sure he’s really chatty.

Saw Unarmed actually embed a card ˝” deep into drywall while mucking his hand at the IP. He also bruised a dealer several times with a $1 chip (tipping) and did it every single time! Dude throws like Roger Clemens….

Watched some very talented poker players at their best. Creativity was abundant.

Learned that Lacky is the real deal. Not just at the game, but in real life as well. Golden.

Met Creeper, one of the funniest guys on the face of the planet. As for his poker skills…..it took me two hands to defeat him in a side-game (Skipper should have given me the seat in the tourney instead). /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Learned that Yugo is apparently allergic to Mercedez-Benz upholstery, fresh air, sunshine and country music. Sheer torture for SFB to drive his MBZ with the top UP all the way to Vegas! But Yugo made such a stink about the possibility of his actual death from exposure to UV rays and oxygen that Skippo had no choice but to raise the top and proceed like the gentleman he really is.

Called SuitedSixes a bajillion times to give updates. Kind of like salt into an open wound..

Met Cleinen, a very sharp, young player who has his priorities straight. Never mind that he looks like a young Burl Ives (think Frosty the Snowman), he is sneaky good.

Gained even more respect for SkibblerPlop for exacting his revenge on the “Slavic Ghost” by blaring Tammy Wynette, Merle Haggard and (say it ain’t so) John Denver at max volume the entire way (round-trip). Yugo would probably have been better off with severe sun-sickness IMHO.

Drank more than was prudent, gambled less than I should have. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Pulled quad aces on “Let it Ride” to win $1500 plus the sucker bet that paid $300 at the Station. Actually called the river ace and told Creeper before it was dealt that I won $2K or so. He didn’t believe me for some reason….

Pulled a pair of aces on the very next hand, dealer showed an ace, then………..brick. Only won $350 or so that time. 7 aces dealt to me in two hands of a 5-card game. It was goot!

Saw John Hurst in the perfect outfit for him. On-stage with Dali??? Never happened, but it would have been Saturday Night Fever Forever. The wig was okay, but the platforms were the bomb!

Learned that if you hit quad aces in Let it Ride at the Palace Station, the casino will take forever to review every security tape in the house, call a specialist to check the machine for malfunctions, use a rubber hose and spotlight on the dealer and everyone at the table and damn near demand that you admit to somehow cheating them out of a measly $1800.

Listened to Dali talk at the restaurants. A lot.

Folded to Cleinen’s CHECK heads-up to make sure the fish at the table would re-load.

Wrestled Beefie in the parking lot of Palace Station. Ripped his shirt by accident. I win. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Met Gavin Griffin, a great guy, fairly decent poker player and a really good card dealer.

Sold almost all of the T-shirts and “Lady Luck” card protectors. PM me if you are interested in purchasing a classic T. First-come, first-served.

Got hit on by not one, but TWO female pit-bosses. (Dressing like TheBeef has it’s advantages).

Discovered that seven 2 + 2ers at the same table could easily convince 3 drunk donks from Portland to lose/re-load/lose/re-load/lose/lose/lose/re-load….. Bwahaahaa!

Witnessed first-hand the wonder that is Daliman on the Karaoke stage. Unbelievably talented. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif < Choir Boy

Watched Skipper lose about $1.5MM at the Wynn in a 400/800 NL game. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Gave SkeeperPop a Lucky Lady card protector. He immediately scooped a $4.5MM pot at the Wynn and was happy again. These things are magic! He bought Cleinen and I a beer and had Yugo tossed out of the card room just for good measure. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Learned all about Seth Thomas clocks from Creeper while hoofing it (his 14 mile short-cut) from TI to the Mirage.

Found out that Apathy is actually a 32-year old Canadian with bad teeth. That’s what his ID says anyway….

Was in awe of Irieguy, Zen and Skipper’s organizational skills and class of presentation. Next time, leave the brackets to a pro, though.

Got so drunk, a cop offered to “escort” me out of the Mirage and call a cab to Tibet for me.

Offered my (un-ripped) shirt to Beef 5+ times. Learned that I’m a crappy dresser and he would rather eat poop and stab a dude than trade shirts with me. I win.

Listened to Dali talk. A lot.

Learned that Wuwei is not only the Human Rain Delay, but a tremendous parent, husband and great all-around guy. 2 matches lasted 3 hours with him at the table, but his last match was only 3 hands….. Averaged out I guess.

Woke up Lacky too early (several times), pissed off Creeper and (your name here) a bunch just on general principle. Never bugged Jman, Usher, Mosdef, imSoLucky0, or Ilya much, but wanted to……..

Beat Bellagio at “Let it Ride” with a flush followed by trips next hand. Walked away right away with the $500 or so and they didn’t even blink an eye (unlike the Station).

In the time it took Lacky to hit the restroom and wash up, I turned $1 into $148.00 on a video Keno machine. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Had the pleasure of spending time with some of the highest quality individuals to be found anywhere, anytime. That includes each and every person who attended the event but especially Skipper, Beefie, Lacky, Cleinen and Creeper.

Seriously, this entire weekend was a true classic. Irie, Zen, Skipper, Grekehaus (your shirts are on the way Greekie), the ladies and anyone else who helped to organize it are masters of the party. Vegas rocks all by itself, but these people made the weekend unbeweevable!

If you got this far and haven’t seen pics from the soiree:

Hey Slacker, great report. It was fun meeting & hanging out with you.
Next time, bring your son -- Rap needs someone his own age to hang out with!

I really don't have anything to add, but it is a shame that such a well-written trip report is deep in the stack so I will write this and post it as a form of mercy bump.

I only have two minor statements to make here.

1) Very entertaining post, Slacker. It was very fun to read.

2) Thank God Shakira is back!
