Download "Chicago" off of his new album Illinois (http://rapidshare.de/files/4874581/09_-_Chicago.mp3.html)

I'll give you your 6 minutes back if you aren't satisfied.

ok, Jack, I gave you the benefit of the doubt and downloaded it. the music itself is kind of catchy, but the guy seems significantly emo and whiny.

this kind of reminds me of the Postal Service, except slightly more gay, less electronic, and maybe with a bit of religious/family undertones (stolen from his website)

I will now officially never listen to the bulk majority of people's music recommendations on this board ever again. This guy makes freakin John Wayne Gacy Jr. seem fascinating in a frightening yet ordinary fashion; I garuntee you most people could not do that. I'm sure the hundreds of critics raving over this guy as album of the year are utterly clueless. For awhile I thought OOT may be on track to knowing good music and then that was completely derailed. If anyone deserves a boost into the public eye as the next big thing its this guy [although I do in some way enjoy having his music as something of my own]. September 13th in Cleveland I will be there.

There's about 10 songs on the album that run close to me with Casmir Pulaski up there. I just figured Chicago would be the most accessible.

I'm reminded of Billy Wilder's description of a great movie: "Three great scenes. No bad scenes."

It might as well be applied to albums as well. And this album has 7-10 great songs and no bad ones.

This is the best album that has come out this year...until the new Broken Social Scene is released. Don't listen to the haters. I went off in an earlier thread about this; nothing since listening to SDRE Diary for the first time, has had such an impact on me like this album.

09-08-2005, 06:47 PM
Was't there a thread about this a little while ago, and basically everyone said it was awesome?

There must be some kinda snow-balling effect goin on in these threads

GRANDPA: Come here, Billy, I want to show you something...

STAN: Aw, do I have to?

GRANDPA: Yes you do you little pecker!

GRANDPA: I realized that the reason you won't kill me, is because you don't understand how I feel, Billy. But I found out a way to show YOU what it feels like to be grandpa.

STAN: Hey, what are you doing?

Grandpa hits a switch, and the lights in the room go out. Stan tries to look around the dark room. Grandpa reaches down and puts a tape into a tape player. The other boys have their ears pinned against the door.

KYLE: What are they doing in there?

CARTMAN: I don't know...

GRANDPA: Now, you're about to see what it's like to be as old as me. Are you ready Billy?

STAN: I guess.

Grandpa flips the switch on the tape player. A slow Enya song begins to play.

STAN: Okay, you can let me out now.

GRANDPA: Not just yet.

Grandpa turns the song up louder. Stan pulls on the door.

STAN: LET ME OUT, GRANDPA!!

The song gets even louder still.

STAN: I can't take it anymore! This music is terrible!! It's cheesy but lame and eerily soothing at the same time!!

GRANDPA: THAT'S IT!!!! NOW YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE GRANDPA!!!!

STAN: Grandpa... I... I had no idea how bad it was for you... Now I understand...

GRANDPA: So now will you kill me, Billy?

STAN: Sure I will grandpa... I will.
