There is either this line, or just calling preflop, or checkfolding the flop (which I don't like at all). What do you think?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (10 handed) converter

Button (t940)
SB (t975)
Hero (t975)
UTG (t1045)
UTG+1 (t980)
UTG+2 (t970)
MP1 (t860)
MP2 (t960)
MP3 (t1720)
CO (t575)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, K/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
2 folds, UTG+2 calls t30, 1 fold, MP2 calls t30, MP3 raises to t100, 3 folds, Hero raises to t300, UTG+2 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls t200.

Flop: (t675) 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 3/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero bets t675 (all-in).

I'd call preflop and check-fold this flop. I think that any hand that just calls your reraise preflop is loving this flop so I don't like the push. I'd expect to see QQ-TT here a lot, and if he has AQ you're making a guy with three outs fold.

EDIT: AA/KK aren't impossible either, his PF raise is very strong with two limpers in front.

I don't like the re-raise pre-flop.

I'd call and check/fold post flop if no A or K show up.

You have Ace high.

Took me 5 minutes to write my post, I'm really not copying... /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yea, I think that it's a better play to just call preflop. But when I reraise and that flop comes, do you push or checkfold?

Well, atleast you have the Kh.

Awful. If you're going to just push any flop with ace high, you might as well push preflop, frankly.

Does the title of the post imply that this hand occurred at a $215, or was that the time of day when you posted it? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I got called by AQ and doubled up. That was kinda why I posted it, because it felt like a pretty bad play but got rewarded so much I started thinking maybe it was a good play, lol...

Ok, Morbo, I think you should consider moving down a level.
Re-raising AK out of the BB is generally a bad idea because you're building a pot out of position with a hand you will miss the flop with 2/3 of the time. The times you do miss, it will be difficult to move your opponent off his hand because, well, he raised with it, so he probably kinda likes it. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you want to re-raise AK in this spot, there's really no other move than to push with it. This removes your positional disadvantage and allows your AK to see the whole board. Personally, I would flat call the raise and play the hand from there. On this exact flop, I'm check/folding to any reasonable bet.

Hope that helps.

Call preflop. Or - if you're wanting to put 30% of your stack in preflop, why not just push preflop?

I think calling is correct here, but am I wrong to think that folding would be better than OP's line?
