I am completely baffled as to why sites have trouble getting going.I look at 24 hr poker,ACR,and then newer sites like intercasino poker, total poker, popular poker. They all have awesome promos and perks (especially ACR and 24 hrpoker)but can't seem to get going strong.First there is paradise which has been #1 since it started-overthrowing the back then #1 site planetpoker(who have completely dropped the ball the last 3-4 years). The next 2 out of the big 3 is party poker and pokerstars. Both of which have come out a long while after paradise.I ask myself -what did they do to attract so many players? Its unreal-I guess party had the poker million cruise and with Mike sexton the spokesman it gave party instant credibility. It didnt hurt having the affilite program and interest paying accounts as well.Pokerstars started with play money frequent player points and freerolls and state of the art software.Players played play money and freerolls a long time there and when they opened for real money they had a huge player base and slowly grew and grew gaining the players trust. So again I ask why the latest promos at 24 hr poker and the promos at ACR are so hard to beat but the sites just don't take off.The cut in rake I would have thought would have been the answer but I guess the majority of leisure players dont even care about rake. They both have decent software, obviously great customer service (stefan shows that here every day) but that still cant get the players in.I think true poker and planet are about in the same boat sitting in about around #4,5,6 etc .I guess that is the million dollar question for sites. They should break into the offices of party and pokerstars and find out the secret of getting players.Which leads me to ask -if sites like 24hr and acr offer unreal promos and still cant get hoards of players -what chance do new sites like intercasino, absolute, true poker etc have to make it?Maybe the majority of players feel so safe with paradise, party and stars that they dont even want to look at something different.I guess Im no different -I play usually only at party now and am 100% happy with everything -games,software,and especially cashouts-however I do keep an open mind and always look at other sites looking for stuff like rake, bonuses etc.Now that I think about I havent even mentioned sites like wsex, ladbrokes, william hill,or victor chandler most of whom have big trust in the uk and wont allow US players to play anyway(except wsex) but all of whom seem to be getting alot of traffic at their sites.Geez could I ramble a little more?Im bored as hell right now as you can tell and thought I spill out a few thoughts and would like to hear a few opinions.Pass me the wild turkey.

simple as this:

If your site isnt ranked in top 10 of major search
engines under certain key words your site will struggle
to make it.

Paradise the reason why they will always be number one cause if you search on any search engine to anything related to poker they are number one or have a sponsored number one position.

So being number one in search engines means every new internet user that searchs for poker will always find paradise first, means paradise always gets the first crack at any new online poker user /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Think about it.

Thats why.

paradise dont have to offer no promos and can have the
highest rake but they will always have the most players.

just for reference why
smaller sites cant have that sponsor link
on google and the other major search engine is:

paradise spends over $50,000 a month to keep the
link at number one on google and others /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

It is a multimillion dollar questio actually. Even with the porr but regular traffic we have, we are showing a profit, albeit small.

And considering we have been in business a little more than 6 months, I would not be so fast and count us out yet.

I could actually comment on a lot of aspects in here but I just have been posting so much now, I need to sleep. Another time guys.

Best regards

Building a site is a slow process, just under a year ago I started playing part-time at pokerroom, the place was tiny it had two 1/2 shorttables going during the afternoon and one 10/20 shorttable that's it. By the end of the summer they had 2 or 3 fulltable of 1/2 during the day and some shorttable action on other levels plus one full 2/4 game. The evenings would have 5 or 6 full 1/2 games and one full at almost every stake upto the max. Now they have 12 full 1/2 in the evenings and have dozens of tables going. When your site grows it grows exponentially.

LOL, I was thinking the same. Hate to say it, but I stopped reading after about four lines, my eyes were literally going like your smiley - http://e4u.consoleradar.com/crazy/686.gif

Shame... Because it looked like a good post - I think I will break it down into four or five manageable chunks and try again.

Sorry -I admit I am no writer and often write when Im playing full tables.I make lots of spelling mistakes and have grammer mistakes.Sometimes I get thoughts in my head and just want to spit it out as fast as I can.The best thing is to just give me an F for my english and just tried to get the drift of my post.

Hey don't worry about it, at least you have ideas to write about. I simply can't be arsed to write long posts like the one you made above.

Just try putting some spaces between lines and split the block of text up a bit. Otherwise some people will just skip past it, which is ludicrous but a fact of life.

Keep posting, it was a good post (finally read it all) /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

This is how I started on-line poker. Went to yahoo and ended up at paradise. Suprisingly, entering on-line poker in yahoo gives sunrise poker as first hit.
