Cruise line ? where? How many days? Experience?

Planning a vacation for spring next year (have to book way ahead so i can take off) Want to what lines are good for cruises? Any offer poker? What types of gambling? Where to go? What type of price am i looking to pay? Any ideas? Where have you gone and was it worth it? Im in the NYC area....

I edited my post.... Ill be departing from NYC airport. But im not opposed to flying to FL to depart. Whatever, and price isnt that important i just want it to be worth it. Im looking to spend about 1K per person.

I live in Boston, and took a 1 week cruise to bermuda.

we got caught in a storm, got rocked by 40 foot seas, and 90% of the boat was seasick (I was in the 10%).

in general, cruises are great if you're lazy & unimaginative.

my friend went to Alask with his wife. $3500 per person and it sounded awesome. They were gone like 10 days and said it was very cool. Walked on a glacier, saw bears that kind of thing.

Only been on one cruise. Only advice I have is, don't go Carnival.

I went from NY to San Juan and onto a Royal Caribbean cruise around the um...Caribbean...We hit St. Martin, Aruba, Curacao, St. Thomas, and maybe something else, but I'm not sure...

It was pretty awesome, I will say. Even though I got food poisoning towards the back end of it...It knocked me out for maybe a day and a half, but I was ok after that...

EDIT: Oh wait, I also went on a cruise around the Greek Isles, and that was super nice, even though the cruise ship was supposedly bad (everyone I was with thought it sucked, but I didn't mind). Greece is beautiful when you're not in Athens, so you might consider that too. I don't remember the name of the cruise line...
