View Full Version : 99 in early position

I would like anyone's thoughts on the following hand:

In a $10 + 1 SNG
Blinds are 50/100
I have approximately 1400 chips and am second to act with 8 players left.
I pick up 99 and raise to 300.
I get a caller in mid position and everyone folds.
Pot is 750
2 - 5 - J Rainbow
I raise 300.
I get reraised to 800
I fold.

Now, I am left with 800 chips and am in much less contention for the SNG. I am now rethinking the hand and feel as though I should have checked the flop to keep the 300 chips. Or should I have even raised that hand preflop from such an early position with so many players remaining?

Please give me your thoughts.
