got a speeding ticket a couple months ago. 1 month after my record finally got clean. long 3 years, it was

doing 82 in a 60. cop only wrote me up for 80 in a 60. bless his heart. as he sent me on my way with his sh*t eating grin.

called a lawyer, paid a fee.

DISMISSED!!!

GOD it feels good!!! weight? off of shoulders!!!

(this ticket couldve really screwed up some job prospects im looking into, and possibly the job i have. so i felt the need of a little extra muscle!)

ill have to do a minor penance for my lawyer jokes. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

but i still have my religious jokes!!! heh heh heh

just thought id share...

enjoy the rest of your day. i know im going to

WOO HOO!!!

Paraphrase:

I was guilty.

I got off.

God bless America!

It wasn't the ticket that could have screwed up your prospects: it was you. You make it sound like this ticket floated down out of the sky and unluckily happened to fall on you.

You enjoy your day. You just made mine a little worse.

My ticket for going 70 in a 60 was pretty cool. Funny nobody was letting me get off with anything. God bless america and all men are created equal indeed

never said i wasnt guilty or that it wasnt my fault. But it's also the courts fault for not making it stick.

dont know how your day got worse, but if you really want to preach the ethics of speed traps and cops with radar guns, by all means...

sun is shining a little brighter today!!!

"this ticket couldve really screwed up some job prospects im looking into, and possibly the job i have."

yeah most places wont let you deliver pizzas unless your driving record's clean.

I'd like to disagree with your two most dangerous words used in poker. "I win" is much worse when said by a player other than yourself, sucker!

"dont know how your day got worse"

Because I found out there's just one more person in the world not taking responsibility for their own actions. I look forward to your next post:

"I was playing poker and the dealer caught me cheating. However, since the floorman didn't see it, I was allowed to keep playing and keep the money I had won. Life is great!"

actually, you cant really drive for anybody for anything unless your record is clean. like say, your local Truck (big rig) drivers, Fedex man, couriers, limo drivers, taxidrivers, airport shuttles, etc.

so i take it you always just pay any ticket without questioning it? is that right? you lay down and admit wrongdoing at every given moment just because youre 'accused' of something?

get off your puritanical highhorse. traffic violations are a game played by both sides. why else do cops 'hide' when doing speed traps? it sure isnt for use of deterrence. it's for revenue for the state. if it was to keep drivers safe, theyd be more out in the open. which is alls theyd have to do to keep traffic at normal speed. but no, they dont do that do they? some precincts have bonus quotas for # of tickets issued. good luck getting any of them to admit it though. a bud of mine is a cop and he told me alot of great little stories.

AND sometimes their guns are wrong. there's lots of info on the web about the BS of speeding tickets and what a joke they are.

and i am innocent until proven guilty, btw. and they couldnt prove it. that's the way the judicial system works. i didnt come up with the rules. i just play within the system's rules...gotta problem with that? i do have a right to defend myself when accused of a crime dont i?

also, it's not like i got off this scott-free. you think that lawyer was cheap? just because i chose to pay my 'fine' to the lawyer instead of the state AND my insurance company doesnt mean i didnt pay.

but my record's clean /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

anyone who pays for a moving violation unquestioningly, has their head in the sand to the reality of the situation.

b

ps...this may make ya feel warm and fuzzy. last week i was undercharged at a gas station by about $10. i went back in and made it right. how many people do you know who wouldve done that? especially with the resentment for gas prices being as high as they are. i sure dont know too many.

""I was playing poker and the dealer caught me cheating. However, since the floorman didn't see it, I was allowed to keep playing and keep the money I had won. Life is great!" "

but next im sure you'll agree with casinos that cardcounting is 'cheating' and/or unethical.

If you hadn't already admitted your guilt, the rest of your argument would make sense. But when you admit that you were speeding, you own up and pay the ticket.

"but next im sure you'll agree with casinos that cardcounting is 'cheating' and/or unethical."

Never! However, if a casino bars you for doing it and they have posted that if you do it, you'll be barred, you should accept the penalty.

"you cant really drive for anybody for anything unless your record is clean."

Is your record considered clean if you have a "Recently went to Traffic School" on your DMV report?

Also, I'm not sure how you got off? You paid a lawyer and got the ticket dismissed, I don't get it? How does the lawyer settle things with the DMV? Did it have anything to do with the cop not putting the correct speed on the ticket (he put 80 when it was actually 82)?

Thanks

where did i admit to speeding? i never admited anywhere that i was speeding.

i said i didnt say i wasnt guilty, but i also didnt say i was.

"Is your record considered clean if you have a "Recently went to Traffic School" on your DMV report?"

no. this doesnt necesarily clean your record of anything

"Also, I'm not sure how you got off? You paid a lawyer and got the ticket dismissed, I don't get it? How does the lawyer settle things with the DMV? Did it have anything to do with the cop not putting the correct speed on the ticket (he put 80 when it was actually 82)?"

before it even gets to court. the lawyer does a motion of discovery asking for about 24 different items plus many sub-items to be provided by the precinct regarding the ticket, radar gun records, training records, it's quite a list. about 5 pages. failure to provide even one of those items results in an automatic dismissal. also, once he subpeona's the cop, if the cop doesnt show up, its a dismissal. it never went to trial so the lawyer never had to question the cop about anything.

there's some great websites with info on it.

im glad i looked.

From your very first post in the thread:

doing 82 in a 60.

That's not an admission that you were speeding?

Way to go Bernie!!!!,most if not all cops have serious mental health issues and thats a fact. They comprise the biggest group of bullies and pyhsco,s Ive ever known. They,ll throw a persons life into turmoil on a whim. They fact they have guns is scary. If all citizens exersized their rights(which are just that ,rights ,not privelages)and fought these tickets every time their given one ,the amount of tickets ,especially chicken sh*t ones will go way down. You where found NOT GUILTY,period. The comments youve got have ,like most of the time on this site, missed your point completely.Dont fight them, let their total ignorance be their bliss.Until they get pulled over by some meathead stormtroopers on steroids.Hopefully theyll think of you and do a slow burn.

"Because I found out there's just one more person in the world not taking responsibility for their own actions. I look forward to your next post:"

Lighten up Punker. It's not exactly like bernie got off on a murder or arson or something, it was a SPEEDING TICKET. An offense that carries a disproportionate effect on conviction for an otherwise law-abiding citizen. Conforming to every government regulation all the time is not my definition of personal responsibility either. (Disclaimer: I am not advocating the breaking of any laws
etc.... yada yada.)

Fight the power Bernie.

Mine neither. But paying the penalty if I choose not to conform is.

You didn't write "clocked doing 82". You wrote "doing 82."

But consider yourself innocent if you like. What else can be expected from a country led by Bill Clinton for 8 years.
